Photos are only showing the top floor... the bottom floor is just as big.

Very nice lounge.

I have just returned from a South American Adventure that included MP and Titicaca ( as well as Uyuni and a whole lot of other stuff).
Looking forward to following … :-)

LAN domestic is Utilitarian but pleasant , have flown with them quite a few times now.

Are you going to knock up a TR?

Happy to take any tips/recommendations you may have.

The sleeping room was empty when we used it.

Showers will give you a decent full amenity kit too.

Are you overnighting in Cusco ?
Can recommend two restaurants :-)
A Mi Manera , open kitchen vg food and service
Fallen Angel , over the top ambience and much flashier but still ok food

LA2031 Y LIM-CUZ

Selected exit row seats, and was pleased to see the shadow held as the flight was full.

Departing LIM ... geez, Lima looks huge from the air.

Flight path into CUZ is fun ... the picture below you can see the runway parallel with the plane.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1462230372.388280.jpg

The path takes you pass the airport, and then does a hard LH turn around a mountain.

The picture below you can see the runway being lined up. Best landing I've had since Kai Tak.

SCL was a frustrating process for many. Thanks to AFF I knew all about the reciprocity fee ... many did not. Witnessed quite a few fellow citizens being turn away at Immigration, and sent back to the other side of the terminal so they could make their contribution to the Chilean economy.....

amaroo, although I do not like the reciprocity fee, I understand and respect it. They impose it on Aussies because the Australian government insists on charging Chileans that to apply for a visa to enter Australia.

Although there are only 4 beds, I have never been unable to avail myself, which is fantastic as the QF/LAN connection I do through to Bogota involves a 10-12 hr stay at the lounge :)

Wonderful meal. Definitely worth eating here!

Those empanadas look amazing and make me homesick! (homesick as I grew up in Chile) Excellent you found some quality ones! :)

I recall that landing being particularly hairy!

Yes, with housing very close as well. and when you get off the plane the altitude kicks straight in.

Looks like you didn't have time in Lima to visit the Larco Museum,Amaroo. If you are back there and get a chance it is well worth it.

I enjoyed take off and landing there. Apparently they are LAN's best pilots who fly that route.

The altitude is interesting. As soon as we walked out my friend felt it immediately and struggled but I did not feel affected.

We were picked up at the airport and driven straight to the Sacred Valley. It's a very scenic drive around 1.5hrs ... we stopped along the way to take some snaps.

Cheers. We have two nights in Cusco, will take a look- thanks

Hi amaroo, we will be in Peru early October. So, will follow your trip report with interest. Have booked hotels and trains to MP and Puno. But, will need to book local transfers and tours. Would appreciate some recommendations / suggestions - maybe I will send you PM.

Its an amazing landing in Cuzco.

Luckily for me, I didn't have troubles with the altitude either. Although the +1 had minor issues. A couple of coca teas helped a little. And Macchu Picchu is actually lower in altitude than Cuzco,( 2600+m compared to 3100+m if I remember right?). Sacred Valley, Urubamba, Ollaytantambo and Aguas Caliente are all about the 1800m level.

The train journey is stunning! Although the HB train was a bit steep in $$ for us. Even the regular service was great and highly recommended.

Hopefully by the time you get back to Cuzco, your friend will have acclimatised well.

Interested in Amaroo's ( and others) take on the Inca "story" , after MP.
Almost everyone in our group found it all quite beyond belief as incisive questions were answered with polished "spin" by our otherwise quite competent , Cusco based , guide.

In the most unlikely event that I choose to return , overnighting at Sanctuary Lodge and climbing Huayna Picchu would be #1 and #2 priority.
