Pet airport lounge hates

So OK for one person to take up space meant for 4 people?

Happens quite a lot.
When all the single seats were taken and there's one 4 seaters left. I'd take the 4 seater but anyone is welcome to share my table.

Perfectly fine to do that but hopefully you also send that message by not spreading the stuff all over the other 3 seats.

Luggage/Bags on seats, drives me mental for some reason.
Cannot process why your bag needs a seat - other than to stop someone else using the seat.
Then when a lounge begins to fill and an announcement needs to be made for people to place their luggage on the floor...

And to all the lemons who think they are more important than the rest of the lounge - just have a think if you were that good you would be flying private, get a grip!

It’s in the Melb J lounge I usually see this kind of behaviour too with kids. That’s where I told a kid off for picking up all the rolls and putting them back. Although I did tell someone just recently to use tongs, just can’t rememebr where.
I know it’s school holidays but OOL was utter chaos on Saturday. Screaming kids running amok and one knocked a plate off a table to which one of the staff frowned at. Only lasted 10 minutes due to the noise so thought I’d try my luck in the VA lounge. Was fairly busy in there aswell but much quieter and kids seemed under control.

OOL is always awful.

But what kind of behaviours are you referencing here?

I know Bali gets a bad wrap for Bogans but the Gold Coast gives it a fair run. Don’t think I’ve ever seen as many dreadlocked, scruffy looking people covered in tattoos and not wearing shoes and that was just the women!
Thankfully under an hour in the airport was enough

But at least in Bali the bogans seem to have to stay downstairs. Buying stuff.

People seem to lose their manners when they think they are rich it seems.

My one and only time in Changi TPR. Guy talking loudly to some relos on a video call at full volume. Not 2m away were the quiet rooms but no manners. Was all in Hindi which I could understand as well.. conversation felt like it was staged so he could flash his status.

Also, no washing of the male genetalia over the bathroom sink please

... just another example of flashing your status!:p

I was recently in the Brisbane Business Lounge when a flouro clothed individual sat himself down adjacent to a knee high table, took off his steel capped boots and socks, placing the socks on the table and then put his (filthy) bare feet on the table. I asked the lounge manager if something could be done. She very politely asked him if he could remove the socks and feet from the table which, of course, was met with a barrage of vile and loud abuse. Awful, just awful behaviour.

Nothing much really bothers me except people hogging seats when the lounge is full...leaving their bags on chairs and requiring one to ask if it is free. Overhearing someone arguing over the phone can sometimes be quite entertaining.

Any music / videos / phone calls / games on devices without headsets. It's not hard, the devices come with headsets included.

The parents of poorly controlled kids.

U.S. lounges with staffed bars. Instead of just grabbing a drink from the fridge you have to wait in line, ask about what drinks are available, get served and feel guilty about not tipping (oops, a can of worms there).

All of the above, particularly the HiVis "fluoro" overalls, sometimes not so clean. And that's in the business lounges. Still to see a fluoro in the QF lounge. BTW, these are acceptable in the Q dress code. They are regarded as "uniform". Would plain overalls be considered the same?

Lounges were great in the old days when each online airline had its own room. Now they've been ruined by combining multi airlines into one room and, more recently, by moving to privately owned lounges that are more interested in profit than service and comfort. They have become so big and noisy that there's little benefit over just sitting outside in the terminal.
My rules would be as follows:
1. No thongs and/or boardies, and enforce it. Add high viz at FIFO airports. Add tank tops in humid areas.
2. No speakerphone calls, or people who think you need to shout when you talk on a mobile.
3. No kids, except on a leash.
4. Window seats can only be used by those who actually want to look out the window. I'm at an airport and want to watch the planes and every window seat gets taken by people reading papers or using their laptops.
5. Ban ridiculously large coffee cups with ridiculously small handles.
6. Ban baristas who insist the coffee cup by filled to overflowing in an area where its hard enough just walking without being bumped by travellers and/or their wheelie bags.
7. Lounges must open at least one hour before the first flight, even if that first flight is at 4am.
8. Businessmen must keep conversations private. Just yesterday I overheard that Bunnings is about to buy Amazon.
9. Businesswomen must not scream and airkiss every colleague who enters the lounge.

See, that’s when security should be called in. Abusing staff is just not on.

Any device whether it be for phone calls or listen to music/movies/Facetime must have headphones - one of my biggest bugbears is listening to both sides of a conversation or having to listen to someones entertainment. It amazes me that people think others want to listen to their conversation or movie. I don't know why it is so distracting but it is... I'm sure my blood pressure goes up in these moments

This is a ‘thing’ I have with my SIL. She minds her young grandkids and they have all the gizmos. Or they might use my iPhone. When having coffee with her and the kids at a coffee shop I’m constantly turning down the volume. I’m highly aware of other people and don’t wish to disturb them just as I expect others to do the same. She gets so cross with me saying it doesn’t matter. My brother, who has just retired, says it does matter and agrees with me. I think some people just don’t ‘get’ it. Weird as she is an intelligent person who has an active career in nursing.

Another thing that annoys me in airport lounges is people handling food from the buffet with their hands...
Seriously...this has to be my biggest bugbear at any buffet...:eek:

So, I was in a lounge the other day and had a conference call on speakerphone, then after that I face timed my mother. Before you get all up in arms, I went into a "phone booth" to make these calls, which were reasonably well sound proofed. Lounges should invest in a few such rooms, I find it annoying that it is easier to find a private spot in a terminal than in most lounges to make such calls.
