Philippine Airlines Delays/Cancellations

Probably due to recent cancellation(s) of the normally A321-operated PR221 MNL-BNE and its daytime return PR222, most unusually A333 RP-C8780 operated PR222 today, arriving MNL at 1939 hours, 144 minutes late.

The SYD-MNL PR212 (1030 hours) had RP-C8789: it took off at 1340, being estimated to arrive at 1959, 179 minutes behind schedule.

Monday 10 July 2023's PR209 from MNL to MEL (A333 RP-C8789), the 1830 hours, did not take off until 0254 hours today (Tuesday 11), arriving at gate at 1226 hours, 446 minutes behind schedule. The returning PR210 (the 0630 hours) was in the sky at 1435 with gate arrival forecast for 2038 hours, 443 late, so at least these flights are consistent(ly bad).

I don't know why they were so delayed, as yesterday PR101 from HNL down to MNL arrived at 1852 hours, 92 late, a long time before the aircraft took off for Melbourne.

On Saturday 31 August 2024, PR224, the 0830 hours PER-MNL (A321 RP-C9934) was airborne at 0934 so arrival in the Philippine capital should be about 1628 hours, 43 minutes late.

PR224 (A321 RP-C9936, the 0830 hours PER up to MNL airborne at 1044 on Thursday 12 September) should arrive at approximately 1734 hours, 109 minutes behind schedule. The plane had arrived in PER from MNL at 0905 hours, 110 late so at least it's not losing further time. Previously, the aircraft came in to MNL from HKG, arriving at 0054 this morning, 21 early so it looks like another A321 was unavailable.

PR is unusual in that some of its A321s have 12 lie flat J seats (2+2). I've travelled on a short sector (BKK-MNL) with the full recline being welcome, the only disadvantage of which was having to step over another passenger to go to the toilet or access the window seat.
