Physical currency exchange

I need some Hungarian forints (HUF) for my trip to Budapest next month.

Of course, I could try and get some via my Bankwest mastercard (or other CC's) when I get there, but I'd rather have some cold hard cash in my pocket beforehand, just to be on the safe side, for such things as bus fares, etc (and who knows what else).

So, I'm planning to visit the Thomas Exchange office in Kings Cross, London (which I've visited several times previously), and exchange a few GBP for HUF at a pretty good rate. Not as good as with a working ATM and Bankwest MC, but a lot more predictable.

Each to their own, I guess.

I have €150 left in fairly crisp notes that I would like to exchange, preferably for A$. Where am I likely to get the best rate: at a bank, or one of those currency exchange places in the CBD, or at the airport at MEL or LHR? I'm travelling to UK in June, but unlikely to vist EU again.
