Looks fantastic - I'm eagerly waiting for the day when I can go check it out.

Might be waiting a while lol

It looks exciting as my Mum's old cardies!! C'mon VA what is happening I mean the CL ****s all over 'The Club'!!!!

I need to chime in here and say that this is definitely not the case.
I totally agree that from the photos which have been uploaded here, the lounge doesn't look incredible, but these pics do it absolutely no justice.
Everything from the space, to the service, to the food & beverage offering are all 11/10.

Make no mistake, this is without-a-doubt the best lounge in Australia... including the Qantas F lounge.

Virgin has done an AMAZING job... it'll be a slow burn to win big corporates over from their competitor but I hope it works out for them.

Well aware of the lounge, but for someone to claim that XX is better than XX it needs to be compared with the same type of lounge

A domestic invite only lounge

However a more valid comparison would be to the QF CL and not the public F lounge

Hi guys, understand your point.

Aesthetically they are like chalk and cheese, so up to personal preference. The Syd CL is very impressive from a design point of view. The rest look like any old QP (not new J lounges). They are still good lounges.

The Club from a product point of view however; service, food and beverage, showers and bathrooms etc, is all clearly aimed at one-upping CL... and it does the job very well!

Spirits available for self serve

Dining table and chairs off on the other wall for meals

Bathroom... Amazing! Although for gents, if standing there is a mirror behind the cistern positioned at a very disconcerting height

Having only been to The Club in Brisbane, and can only compare to the CL in Adelaide and Brisbane, I'd say they are all much of a muchness.

One BIG difference I noticed is that Virgin staff completely dote over guests while in the Club. CL on the occasions I've been there, the lady behind the desk checks you in and then you see nobody for the rest of your stay. It's just a Qantas Club with less people.

Design, layout, and styling are all up to personal taste. The actual product (secluded waiting time with decent quality free food and alcohol) is fairly similar. In my limited experience though... Virgin are winning in the service stakes.

Disagree. The Club is very nice, it's very comfortable, the staff to above and beyond to look after you, the drinks are top notch, but the food is a little disappointing (I had a chicken, bacon and coleslaw sandwich that was largely inedible) where the food in the first lounge is wonderful, and the first lounge has spa treatments, which to me give it the edge.

That may be very true, but others have said, comparisons between The Club and F lounges is like comparing apples and oranges. Two different beasts!

Sure, but as I was responding to a post that said "this is without-a-doubt the best lounge in Australia... including the Qantas F lounge" I don't really get why you're telling me this and not the OP! :-)

According to an email sent to Club members today, Virgin will open a Club in Perth next year and the Melbourne refurb is scheduled to be reopened in mid-January complete with kerbside check-in. (None of this may be news to anyone but me.)

I thought Melbourne had impost of the refurb open?

The kerbside checkin is pretty obvious from the new box they've built. The shape gives it away but it hasn't been announced AFAIK. Hopefully it's available to top tier FFers and J class passengers and not just club members. I'd assume so if Sydney is the precedent.

What would be awesome is if they built baggage check-in capabilities into the new curbside entrance... thus making premium check-in completely separate from regular check-in and bag drop.

And then if they later add them to the Sydney premium curbside check-in as well.

Theoretically it shouldn't cost them too much if they remove the premium check-in from the regular areas and move those staff to the separate premium entrances.

They announced kerbside check-in for MEL though?

For those playing at home this what is being talked about. This is looking back along the departures ramp from the VA terminal towards T4
