Platinum One yesterday, today, maybe tomorrow

My theory is that P1s automatically OpUp if a J seat is available when the flight closes. You'll be the perfect P1 test case for this theory [I gave up on the OpUp lottery a while back and just buy J these days - you get used to it very, very quickly.].

My OpUp rate has actually dropped since becoming WP1 (I suspect that it's due to the improved upgrade process for those using points - but have absolutely no facts to back this up ;)).

Agree - mine has dropped as well - and I have flown 4 QF flights this week with spare J seats. CL still rule the cabin in this area. ....

definitely not in my experience, but pretty good chances for points upgrades

Looks like my pet theory is not correct.

My new theory will be that WP1s get more OpUps than WPs. Note that we need to exclude the aberration post grounding where OpUps were handed out like lolly water and possible aberrations with the initial WP1 launch.

As a brand new WP1, AirKat should be well placed to judge whether her OpUps now increase, decrease or stay the same.

:D
Us domestic Y FF superstars are the elite of the elite when it come to how many safety briefings we have seen and how many sectors we fly in a year.

I think International Y is the new Domestic Y.

SYD-MEL is 20SCs on a Flexi-Saver, and about 90 minutes. SYD-SIN (for example) is 30SCs and about 8 hours.

I wonder if there are any P1s that have mostly Y international flights.

Thanks everyone. I'll keep you updated on my experience. I've got lots of flights in the next 3 weeks (should end May with around 4,000 scs) so I'll be sure to report op-ups.

Yesterday I received an email from Epiqure telling me my order had been dispatched... looking forward to a nice welcome gift!

Got to agree that opups have become very scarce since I made P1.
Still, you are almost guaranteed a front row Y seat, with a reasonable chance of a shadow, so it aint all bad.

I haven't particularly noticed a higher rate in getting upgrades since becoming P1 however you generally can get the front row of economy and usually a spare seat next to you! So that's good for me. I must admit I'm 50/50 sometimes on whether it is better to have a J seat with someone next to you or an good economy seat with no-one next to you. If you eat in the Business lounge before flying the food in economy doesn't really matter that much. I find the food fine though.

Congratz! thats some flying. Thought you were a pilot for a sec, but you sound like you almost fly more than them! :P

Is there a poll as to how many p1, wp etc on this forum? If not, i reckon there ought to be, just for interest sake, a poll that is adjustable once a higher status is attained.

Yesterday I had a call from the P1 service desk to say congratulations and welcome me. The lady I spoke to was so lovely. She mentioned they have just over 3,000 P1s now, which is consistent with the numbers spoken about on this site.

She followed up with an email from her email address, rather than a generic one... very impressed.

That is very interesting. I have had no communication from the P1 team other than a message left on my mobile a week before my first international flight after reaching P1. The message was just "we know you are flying on an international flight in a week, we have noticed that you have requested an upgrade, it hasn't gone through yet but we are keeping an eye on it."

A bit late posting but I thought I'd share... came home this week to my P1 gift from Epiqure and the welcome pack to P1. Lovely letter from Alan Joyce... although a shame they have struggled to spell 'Frequent'

Wow, from what I can see, is two misspellings of frequent and one of platinum. Is that really Alan Joyce's signature or a computer generated signature? If it is his signature, then does the buck stop with him?

No, it isn't his signature, just a print out. Still fairly poor though and distracted me from the nice box!

On a side note, I am not much of a shiraz drinker so this will be regifted... would anyone give this to someone they liked? A little help with a quick review would be great.

Yeah a bit poor that a note written under the CEO's name has two spelling mistake. Interesting the note I received back in January has slightly different text, although essentially the same message. I thought it would largely be the same note they send to everyone with some customisations. For instance they offer you to 'make each journey with us the most enjoyable experience it can be' but in my note it was 'exceptional experience' rather than 'enjoyable experience'. But I didn't get any spelling mistakes.

I received the exact same two bottles of wine. But they did take 2 months to arrive.

In all seriousness you should send that letter back to them to point out the errors. Very embarrassing. If I found out letters had gone out under my name to valuable customers with those sorts of errors I would be furious.
