Well, it was MEL/OOL; coming back on $299 D fare ... In March - quite a nice SC boost ...
We received 175SC for a MEL-OOL paid J ticket, bought during last DSC offer.

I can't work out exactly how it worked out, will wait for return trip Friday (again J paid) then call (zero wait time) to have it explained to me.

You know with VA bonus SC before March 31st. etc etc.

Used 2 this weekend ADL-SYD.

I recall agents saying they were good until June?

They are good to use on flights until June but they must be applied to a flight before they expire (the flight can be after the upgrade expiry).

Many expire April with the status extensions, so if thinking of using one of those for a later flight it needs to be done by April expiry.

DSC would have been an extra 60SC based on when booked. Currently the sector earns 115 SC, so 115+60=175.
Right ok, I see that now, looking back at old tables. Thanks a lot.

I'll qualify for WP after today's return flight, you think I'll be able to use the 4 upgrades on upcoming March choice fares?
Maybe no cos this choice offer was for existing WP at time offer was released.

Thanks again.

I doubt it will be that granular.

Qualifying WP you get 4 Platinum Upgrades which expire at your review date. I have little doubt these could be used on Choice fares for travel until June under the current promotion and published terms.

Apparently we can , confirmed with velocity customer care. Was looking for upgrade on a choice fare flight and only 2 upgrades were available and I needed three.

So what happened as you were 1 short.
I'll be in the same boat.
You can't just upgrade 2 of the 3 on same booking can you?

Yes we can , however wanted all three as travelling with a kid. So did not take it up for this time. Anyways I had the first row in economy.

We booked a direct flight CNS-ADL in J during the DSC offer.

The flight was cancelled so we were moved to CNS-BNS-ADL and received 115 for each leg but no bonus. I called up and queried about the DSC and they credited an extra 80 for each leg (I was expecting 60) meaning 195 each leg and 390 for the entire one-way journey.

For an initial flight that only cost $339, that's a SC rate of 86 cents (I received 780 in all as well after getting the missus' SC).

I know it's not a normal situation and I definitely got lucky with the extra/confusing DSC but 86 cents/SC has got to be right up there for cheapest SC?

Have tried requesting these about 5 times and no seats or paid only.

How early can you request the comp
Upgrades?

You can do give them a call as soon as you book your flights.
Check the flights for availability before you book perhaps?

Has to be award availability for the flight. Check that first. If there is availability you then can book the Y fare and call up straight away.

There has to be J reward seat availability for the flight your on.
Makes sense to check this before calling in the request, little useless otherwise.

I'm using my 4 up before June cutoff cos with flex seats costing more often than not same as J anyway. I'd rather just pay for J for the SCs etc if I choose. Won't be purchasing flex seats.

Thanks for this thread! I didn’t realise the comp upgrades could still be used on choice fares (The last email I received from velocity said 31 Jan). I just rang up and upgraded my recently booked flights. I haven’t flown since last May, so I’m thrilled that my return to the air will be in J.

Does it need to be business reward availability? Can it be business availability at full points rate?

Yes needs to be business rewards availability for an upgrade to be done.

Points rate does not count.

I think they should always have 2 of the 4 upgrades allowed for choice fares.
Other 2 for flex upgrades. Just a thought.

Thanks so much for this info MooTime it is greatly appreciated.

Yes but if there’s no reward availability now, check in the days leading up to the flight. They often release reward seats in the days immediately before the flight. I’ve got a few upgrades that way.

So as far as I can deduce, booking a CHOICE bucket flight now, for flights AFTER June 30, and applying long-dated Plat upgrades to it, is fine?

I have a feeling we will have another round of double status credits drop during March ... anyone else feel that might be the case? :D
