On SYD-BNE, the minimum points guarantee is 800 pts for discount economy, so it shouldn't matter whether you maintain WP or not. Everyone's points earning is reduced by 20% for NOQ fares on that route.

I noted that too in my Qantas Link flights this week. Whist keeping 10SCs each segment, the min. 1000 points had dropped to 800.

Anyway, it's the SCs that count towards maintaining of status. Expect to keep Gold for yet another year.

My BNE-SYD-BNE earned 20SC this week.....the loss of 400QFP - Meh

Couple of SYD-ADL-SYD this month in disc Y, very depressing to see the "fairer and simpler" results.

Syd-adl caught out by the change from 0-600m to 0-750m for the first zone.

Bracket creep

What's the point is status anyway. It makes no difference. While flights in Australia are easy to book on points (with somewhat outrageous surcharges), international flights in business and particularly first are now non- existent. Anyone want few million points? No use for booking international flights at all. Although we've been loyal to Qantas for many many years, even if it costs more, maybe time to look at other airlines such as Emirates for OS flights and upgrades. Sad outcomes for Australian airlines.

Your 'cousin' Michael would always appreciate a few million points ;)

Not to mention VA has no lounges of its own internationally.
QP are still good, but J ones are now an umm factor.
With less F classes with QF more people will be moved to QPi.
SYD QPi for J classers not bad now, but stuff more people into it and it can be ugh.

Sorry stupid question but just wanted to double check before booking - if I book a current Qantas sale fare that is on EK metal but a QF codeshare flight number it still attracts SC right?

Yes, you will earn Status credits if a QF flight number appears on your ticket, and your booking class is N/O/Q/X/G/K/L/M/S/V.

Just inquisitive...are sale fares related to economy only? I have seen saver fares in PE. Not sure about Business.

Sure ... You can see them online - just click the Business tab on the sales page.

Thanks. I asked as few posts back (#34) I read the following classes:

N/O/Q/X/G/K/L/M/S/V
There are business sale fares as well. The ones I've given previously are for economy. Discount business is D/I/U.

You can see all the fare classes here.

Yes Bosox.
I booked a EK metal QF code flight CHC to SYD to ADL and got 25 and (10 plus 5) on sale fare.
5 extra as booking was prior to Mar notice of enhancements.
