Please note that any post made in this forum does NOT count towards your personal post tally. (Previously it did, but personal post counts have now been adjusted to exclude Playground posts)

However, Playground posts DO contribute to the overall site statistics.

So now Playground on AFF is like OMNI on FT.

Looks like it's no more post padding from TOTT for me....

EDIT: Yep, and a bit of inspection by matching between two browser tabs confirms that by posting this comment, my post count did not increase by 1.

I see that this has been applied retrospectively, since I'm a sub-2000 poster again. That will mean I can get the milestone 3 times now - is that a record?

Wow that is a big change.

I have been checking a few peoples post counts to see how much they have dropped.

I have lost over 350 posts; seems like I have been doing a bit too much posting in this forum.

350?? Is that all? You lightweight

What is this, the biggest losers thread? (a la the TV show and Priority Club vs Hilton HHonors?)

FWIW I lost around 1,000 posts...probably just a shade under.

Hi all,

I have lost ~150 posts I think.

Oh well it will be while longer until I get into the 1000 club.

Yeah I must have lost about 800.

Maybe I’ll make 2000 for my anniversary ;)

Edit: I must say I do feel partially responsible considering the 250,000th post debacle and I do think I mentioned unlinking playground posts or something to that extent, but hey, it’s no big deal :)

Oh and congrats on getting an avatar at last admin!

I've dropped ~300 posts hehehe

At one stage, I was posting on the Jokes Thread just to get my post count up

The posts are not "lost" - sandpit posts now simply don't count toward personal statistics.

I recently ticked over 13,000 - that total's down about 1,200 ...

To find out how many posts you have in a thread in the Playground forum, simply mouse over the "Replies: x" for a particular thread and you will be advised how many posts you have in that thread.

Well I have just done a search and JohnK started a "Congratulations to Reggie for 1000 posts" thread on the 31st of December 2007, yet today I am now back to 978 posts.

That would have more to do with a lack of posting for the past 2 and a bit years than lots of posts to the playground though.

Hmmm.

A pity the totals had to wipe all the previous playground posts rather then moving forward only.

Personally I'm not in favour of retrospective (almost) any things. :(

You can that again.

Totally agree. I lost ~2,400 posts from my post count and it is very disappointing. :(

FWIW I feel some of the posts in the Playground are more informative than the rubbish 1 line posts that are posted in the main forum. I won't be spending much time in the Playground anymore....

I don’t value your input because you have more posts than most other people. To some degree that’s an acceptable way of judging who is informed and who isn’t, but after a thousand it’s all about what advice you actually give :p

I agree. Changes should be prospective not retrospective. I also think the loyal readers and posters on this forum should have been asked their opinion prior to any changes being made. Whilst I lost an insignificant amount of posts, maybe less than 50 (does not worry me either way), I feel for posters like JohnK who lost 2500 posts overnight!

There's so much that could be said here, but I think it's pointless saying it (we could argue till the cows come home ;)).

The removal of Playground posts from a member's total post count is a sensible move.

They are posts, not frequent flyer points. The 2 should never be confused. No harm has been done to anyone!

I think is was a valid decision. It might give the site some more cred.
