Potential QF9 fuel stop in Singapore?

The bumping probably won't make much difference to QF's PR... those bumped are prolly going to be economy class pax. And the ones left in economy will probably have some sort of high status and be happy to have a whole row to stretch out in. Those bumped without status get to fly via Singapore and get more status credits and points. Winners all round?

Sounds to me (at least during the current tensions) the PER-LHR flight might be the one to aim for with 90 free seats per flight - perfect for the Y traveller, 3 seats for everyone to have a nice nap.

Off topic: But Indian nationals that used to work for me as contractors refused to travel on any India based airline and when periodically returning home or bringing relatives out to join them usually travelled via SQ and were prepared to wait long SIN transit times to get home rather than use the alternatives.

I did fly once to India via Singapore, in the 90s was QF then AI.. First and last time and I was 14 at the time

PE would be a downgrade on Y in this case! But I honestly don’t see how 30 mins extra flight would warrant almost half of the pax weight offloaded, I think this is very much an absolute worst-case scenario.

The banking/IT market is changing though.

A lot of the Indian based outsourcing providers are cheap for a reason!

Compared to the Big 4 I'd be surprised if the travel policy for outsourcing staff were as generous, sure some staff may go Business however the vast majority will be in the back (I dont have any experience with them in the Australian market only Europe/US...and they are very tight with travel from India to Europe/US)

I do know too some of the larger US based technology companies have a lot of their staff fly Y even across the Pacific, and their margins would be higher than the Indian outsourcing companies!

So to report back from 11 Jan PER-LHR. Flight time was basically right on schedule landing about 5 mins past scheduled arrival. I happened to talk to one of the captains who said there were about 200 pax on board, so there must have been some great winds because nowhere near the 90 less then spoken about.

Talking to the captain was interesting. It was his first time to London in 25 years and he has been flying for jetstar on the 787. Obviously transitioning to QF. There was a training captain also onboard, and he said they like to get the new captains to try the LHR route to test them out as there is obviously more ATC etc going on as you pass over more countries.

A lot of Corp policies have changed to premium economy for legs (not trips) over 8 hours, and business for 12 hours. Obviously seniority has a play and you won’t see many VP’s of large orgs down the back
