Can someone tell me is this idea of no pre departure drinks on qantas (even offering water) going to continue with our new ceo.

Been doing a fair bit on va lately and surely if they can do it we can ?

Or is the chin wag in the galley another enhancement on catching up with some admittedly sometimes spicy cabin gossip.

Maybe I'm just thirsty today as we pushback out of bne as we speak.

I noticed an A330 is operating a domestic flight out of BNE around the same time... Did you happen to be flying on it?

Cheers from Virgin Australia, a pre-departure sparkling wine on all afternoon/evening business class flights Australia-wide.

...and, a very selective cheers, (pre-departure sparkling wine) from Qantas (international) operating a domestic sector (flight numbered less than 400 within Australia).

VA serve Grant Burnt (or did on the last flights I took in J). Sometimes getting isn't as good as wanting ....

Well for inconsistency, try this!

We flew J CBR-BNE on Q Link Embraer last week and got a bottle of water as a pre-departure bevvy.
We flew J on the return later in the week, also on a Q Link Embraer and got.....nothing.

I think they could stump up a bottle of water, especially when it's hot outside.

Typical of course.

It's like that song says

"Some crews will. Some crews won't.
Some crews need a bit o' prompting, and some crews don't
Well, I know I've got the drink but I don't know why
Some say they will and some crews hide."

😇

haha I was booked on the a330. But the lovely lounge staff got me a direct flight instead to Melb. Was a 737. Now don't get me wrong once in the air the csm recognised me from a past flight and actually got Great service (however all three meal options were pretty much vege - vege pizza, soup, and cheese plate. A win for all you herbivores out there.).

That said there's something when you have taken your seat. A simple bottle of water would suffice I guess but I think paying 1500 for a domestic sector. A cheeky glass for those who want it can / should be offered.

I always found pre-departure drinks very rushed on QF domestic anyway. I'm not that desperate for alcohol that I can't wait 15 minutes or so.
What about some still water.

May be rushed, but it need not be. I know on VA they usually ask you as soon as your backside hits the seat so if you’re an early border like I am, you can do what they say - sit back, relax and enjoy the flight after the inevitable hassle of the airport.

Doesn’t have to be booze - a nice apple juice is refreshing. Anything rather than an inconsistent small bottle of warm water.

A few VA flights last year and they’d actually hold passengers at the door to allow the FA to serve drinks to J pax who may have arrived a bit later. So definitely not a rushed affair.

Pre-departure orange juice on Rex in business class.

Pre-departure bottle of water on Jetstar. (Business class on a domestic sector of international flight.)
