Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I had to call Qatar yesterday and asked specifically about this. The rep said that they comply with the rulings of the destination country. Which I guess means that it is up to the passenger to ensure they can enter and do home quarantine if SA, and none elsewhere. Meaning also that people flying to UK don't need a UK arrival PCR if vaccinated.
I did a bit of research into this over the past few days. It looks as though EK, SQ, CX will only be doing FEPO flights into SYD/MEL. So no unvaccinated passengers on any of their flights into these destinations. QF obviously on all Int.

I think for the Airlines it makes business sense and just cuts the hassle of trying to manage caps.

From a passenger perspective, particularly those with young kids or who are medically vulnerable they would way rather travel on one of these flights.

Yep I wont mention the airline but a source there said to us that ultimately they are not liable
If they are un vaxed and don't qualify at check in, that will be completely on them

Well those who are unvaccinated should be able to find somewhere overseas to go and get vaccinated so it is a bit of a hurdle, but not insurmountable.

Not for those who are double vaccinated with a non TGA recognized vaccine like Sinopharm. For example, they are not giving anyone additional doses of Pfizer or Astrazeneca who have had two doses of Sinopharm. To avoid vaccination overload.

And I believe if you have mixed vaccines (one dose Sinopharm, one dose Pfizer), you are not considered fully vaccinated by TGA yet (might change though in next few months).

This situation is so messy....

Not even if you go to a different country to get the extra doses they need? I would expect people would be able to find a country willing to give them the doses that they need.

In any case it's been obvious for a long time that the best choice of vaccine for those wanting to come to Australia would be to get one of the same kind as the ones being used here.

Yes its messy, but so much better than we imagined in April 2020. Glad you were able to find a pathway.

I would have thought even in some of the developing countries that the international community/diplomatic community has access to vaccinations through for fee medical service. Can the Australian Embassy advise?

Qantas is pushing back the Intl schedule a number of weeks due to vaccination targets and lack of demand.....

Reported behind paywall so far

I thought paddlepops and splices were 20c each normally
The last time I bought a paddlepop it was about 20c, and so was my pocket money.

Happy to relate that my "Qld cut the caps again" stranding over here is resolved. Rebooked return into SYD with no HQ, on to BNK to meet Mrs Pineapple, than holiday in NSW till 14 days has passed since international arrival and Qld reopens the border on 17 Dec. Even after that date I would probably have been up for HQ if I flew into BNE.

Winner: NSW Tourism.
Loser: Qld tourism.

Cheers skip

Just to BNE I believe.

That's what you get when you behave as the QLD government does.

Suppose they'll blame the airline for this too.

MEL-LHR been delayed to due sluggish demand. "Flights between Melbourne and London (Heathrow) will commence from 6 November" If you search from this date now, the QF9/10 has been removed - now showing via SYD onto QF1/2

NZ been pushed back from all ports (Due to restrictions at NZ end)

+1 My flight arriving BNE on 2 Dec was cancelled because the reduced cap was extended, and I suspect that reduction will be to 17 Dec.

Qld's HQ capacity is totally maxed out with the border from down South still closed and 13,000 (or more now) queued to reenter.

Cheers skip

I think MEL-LHR has been delayed even further. First QF10 is not appearing for sale until end of November.

SOME services. don't scare people. Mainly QLD and NZ.

QF MEL-LHR not selling well but they've increased SYD-LHR which is selling like hotcakes.

Qantas has made changes to its international schedule in response to quarantine requirements in New Zealand and Queensland and varying levels of demand.

In the biggest adjustments, flights out of Brisbane to New Zealand, Los Angeles and Singapore will not recommence until late January or early February, three months later than those out of Sydney.

In addition, services from Melbourne to London were being pushed back from November 6 to November 27, following “subdued” demand for the earlier flights from Victorians.

The opposite was true of Sydney-London, recommencing on Monday November 1, with Qantas adding another ten return services in that month.

I wouldnt be surprised if it gets pushed back further again until demand sufficiently recovers. Going straight to double daily LHR did seem very ambitious.

Still cant book via DRW from MEL so have to go via SYD and DRW.
