QF have updated the earning table to reflect the addition of premium economy:

SC's are the same as full economy
10% cabin class bonus on miles

Yet 150% of Y to redeem.

Definitely no value in these fares for SC/pts earn

I think it is what most people predicted and is acceptable.

No surprise really but a slap in the face considering that 50% more FF points are required to redeem a Y+ award compared to a WHY award.

I think its a bit of a joke really, considering you need to fly Economy Y on International flights to earn the full SC's, unlike on Domestic you can use B, K etc for the same result. Cheaper to fly JS to get the same net result.

well they now provide full economy SCs from 4 different fare types for domestic (Y, B, H and K), and they now provide full economy SCs from 3 different fare types for international (Y, T, W). So better than the old case of only 1 full economy booking class (Y) for international.

Well thats great news. Thanks for that information. When is that effective ?

Hm. I wonder what the redemption rates will be for upgrades from economy to premium economy

QF seem to have neglected updating that part of their website.

effective when you first fly on a QF Premium Economy W or T fare.

My guess is that it will be same as the current Full Y to J.

So, taking a zone 8 upgrade as an example, its currently:
72,000 Disc Y -> J
45,000 Full Y -> J
45,000 J -> F

so my guess (and its just a guess) is that it will end up like this:
72,000 Any Y -> J
45,000 Any Y -> W
45,000 W -> J
45,000 J -> F

I expect there were so few Full Y -> J upgrades that removing the Full Y rate is not going to affect many people.

I would suspect that Y -> J upgrades will disappear and the upgrades will be Y->W and W->J

Dave

Nup, the T&C have been revised to indicate an optional second choice available upgrade to Y+ should a Y->J fail. I doubt this will change before Y+ commences service on Qantas Metal.

14. Flight Upgrades

...

14.1.5 The following conditions apply to the use of Flight Upgrades:

...
(d) Flight Upgrades may only be used to obtain an upgrade as follows:
(i) Economy to Premium Economy class
(ii) Economy to Business class
Note: at the time of registration, Members may also register a request for a Flight Upgrade to Premium Economy. This request will be considered if the Flight Upgrade from Economy to Business class is unsuccessful;
(iii) Premium Economy to Business class
(iv) Business to First class
Note: it is not possible to upgrade from Economy or Premium Economy to First Class.

I did read somewhere that Y-J would continue to be available. And you could waitlist for both Y->J and Y-?W and if the J was not granted then you would be considered for W.

They have to maintain a Y->J option for all flights that do not have a W cabin.

I have been using the full Y -> J UG option this year on my flights to HKG so I hope that this does not disappear with the introduction of Y+ - currently 25,000 points versus 48,000 points for disc Y -> J

Although if the Y+ fare is around $2,000 rtn then I will probably try and book this rather than the Y fare and consider saving the points for other use.

If only they woud offer Y+ -> F UG's........ :(

I can't see the fares ex LHR either so it would seem they've only been posted in Australia so far.
