It's a tad more expensive for non SYD residents and those who wish to go to SE Asian locations other than BKK.
Not quite as BA WT+ is also there on flights to SIN but remember that QF is only going to include Y+ via SIN/BKK/HKG anyway.

I don't remember the exact figure but BA WT+ to SYD and then domestic return to MEL was only about $70 more than the airfare I paid.

More to the point, once QF Y+ is ensconced it may be the end of antipodean BA flights.
I have nothing to say other than I hope you are wrong. There is no way I am paying the price QF is asking for Y+. I would rather go business class BKK-HKG-MNL and then economy to SYD and it would still end up cheaper than QF Y+ and more SC's.

On another matter, I have a regular need to travel between MEL/BNE/SYD and the $240 StarClass flights interest me greatly. If I can factor them in it gives Flounge access in MEL & SYD ( & BNE I guess) and 40SC's.
I am sorry I was not comparing domestic Starclass or lounge access. I was simply noting that BA business class is not much more expensive than JQ international JQ Starclass yet people still choose JQ Starclass thinking that is a better value product.

I for one expect this to happen. It is not cost-effective for BA to operate to SYD. They would get more revenue utilising the aircraft on a shorter run (eg: another JFK frequency). They keep the route mainly so they can say they operate there.

Given that they have new aircraft coming (slowly of course) - as fleet availability increases then they may not want to give up the slots now for fear of not getting them back.
