Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

I have my BP for my trip to MEL at the moment, and it already says FF GOLD SAPPHIRE QFxx_xx_x.
Guess though that the boarding staff are so stressed seeing if pax have 2 bags and trying to enforce this, that they might allow non SG/non WP/non P1/non CL to be in the premium boarding area or to board the aircraft first.

Unfortunately it seems anyone can get away with using the PB line AP

Until people are consistently shamed and told to go to the correct line (as I've seen regularly with BA and AA) it will just keep happening.

Big FAIL QF.
QF SG in Premium Lane, food truck at back of plane so all had to use front door.
I was at 28F and they let all row 1 to 15 go on ahead if me.
No acknowledgement of anything. SG now PS!
Premium includes J so maybe they knew I wasn't in J as I didn't step into general lane on announcement of boarding by row numbers.
Food truck moved, so back door of plane used... so there I was facing onslaught from rear seaters.
Not happy.
No shadow, plane not full.
Row 29 blocked, but no babies there except a lady in 29F.
They could have offered me 29A.
Grr.
Now noisy kids at Parkroyal room next to me.
Grouchy me.

You mean like printing the class of travel and/or status on the boarding pass?

Obviously it's ineffective, an actual alert would be more effective as it would pressure gate staff and let the pax know.

QF 584 yesterday, PER to ADL fail. Departing from an air bridge on the old Virgin terminal. Only one line manned by one person. Another two staff members faffing about by the gate though. Some signage that could have been use wasn't. No reason they couldn't have had priority boarding here.

In fact, if you paid for J you have legitimately not received part of the service you paid for and no excuse.

Here, here.

Priority fail yesterday in BNE. QF533 down to Sydney and the economy line was fair shorter so I jumped over to it. How hard can it be?!!?

Quite hard it would appear.....

It will only stop once the 'walk of shame' is a regular occurrence.
Which you see happen all of the time with other airlines. Yes, I feel sorry for them because often it'll be a genuine mistake, but that's the way the world works...

I've got 3 QF flights today so we'll see how they go. :)

Access to priority checkin is properly policed, I don't understand why they can't do it for boarding as well.

I suspect it has something to do with delaying boarding (which is probably does, especially if the premium lane is very quiet) which makes the boarding crew's numbers less attractive for the month?

Start boarding 5 minutes earlier.
Clear announcements at the gate that the premium lane is for J and status pax only.
Rope off the lanes so there's a clear partition.
Signs at the entrance to the lanes.
As per check-in, have a staff member stand at the entrance to the lanes, and guide pax correctly -- appreciate that's an extra staffing burden but as I'm sure there are a few floating staff in the major terminals this could be done more often than not I assume?

Shouldn't be that hard!!

I'm guessing that with the short turnarounds that QF is after, starting boarding earlier isn't possible. However, VA make it work on a shorter turnaround so the process is possible. I'm now firmly of the opinion that QF don't care about PB, so unless people demand it, it ain't happening.

PB its practically really jerky useless with QF and I am being harsh here.
The layout of ADL dom and most SYD and MEL gates make PB no use.
Because kids with families and wheelchair users get first dibs.
Also after BP scanning, it's all slow going onto the tiny front plane door to the 737 or JQ 320.
The MEL and SYD circular sort of double gates at that far end, and MEL 330 gates are great, but for smaller planes, PB for those dont work.

Stumbled (again) into this thread after a long while. I cannot believe people still report QF blah blah priority boarding fail! I got over this ages ago. Qantas has shown (apparently just to me and few others) that they are not interested in enforcing priority boarding. It is not rocket science, VA has been doing it perfectly for ages, every time. These days I expect ZERO from Qantas when it comes to priority boarding. In the off chance priority lane gets moving quicker, I'd ba a happy chap. If not, no expectation, no disappointment. Did I say I am over it with QF and priority boarding?
