Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

And here was I thinking that his theory would be to put the passengers into a particle accelerator, render them down to their component atoms and pour the resulting atomic sludge into the seats.

Not even close. Note my signature.

No sign in SYD at gate 2 yesterday or any gate between the lounge and gate 2. Obviously no sign as expected in MEL. Note 2 BP readers at both locations.

I saw the signs at gate 8 on wednesday..

Hmmmm, neither does the Chairman. Gee a cynical person might say that's why he got the job in the first place & why the board allowed 36 years worth of experience to walk out the door.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost in the DJ camp because DJ are doing what customers want.

Yet DJ is not making money. Doing what customers want, yet not making money for shareholders is not a longer term recipe for success (e.g. Ansett)

I've seen the light!!!

WOW DJ - WOW!!

Two lines, single staff member, single scanner, standing in between the two lines - BRILLIANT!

Boarding in MEL yesterday on DJ - massive line on the BNE-bound flight - no-one in the priority line - waltzed straight to the front, without missing a beat the DJ chappie scanned my pass and went back to the next non-priority pax without causing any inconvenience to other pax.

Very impressed DJ :)

One almost feels guilty using the priority lane, I have had many similar experiences recently, it certainly is nice to lounge until your flight is called and not run into a wall of people at the gate.

I know what you mean. I'm torn between not wanting to queue and not wanting to look like a DYKWIA!

I agree - in BNE I waited in the lounge and just boarded last.....

But after the horror morning I had in MEL yesterday - I was very glad to be boarding a non-oneworld flight with a welcoming lounge, not having to stand in line, and the last thing I needed was to fight for overheard space for my rollaboard. It was SO nice to have a flight experience where everything just worked - was genuinely pleasant and enjoyable.

So - QF - you can stop your SYD trials - John Borghetti has solved man's eternal quest to uncover the secrets of Priority Boarding ;)

I know what you mean. I'm torn between not wanting to queue and not wanting to look like a DYKWIA!

Had this experience recently boarding a JQ flight from SIN. There was an enormous and slow-moving (because they do security screening at the gate) queue of people lined up for economy with an empty priority queue for *class passengers. My desire to avoid the queue overwhelmed my concern about looking like a DYKWIA.

Nor did I, are they part of the QFF Scheme. I have never heard this before, interesting

Re the frequent flyer point earning for QF charter flights, I think it depends whether or not they load the QF (charter) flight number into Altea & pax are checked in normally as per for regular RPT flights.

If the pax name can be retrieved in Altea as per normal RPT flights, then the FF number can be added & therefore ff points are earned/posted.

With charter flights as there is no fare paid per person & therefore no eticket issued pax cannot use Next Gen kiosks as it will refer them to a service desk person because it thinks the booking is unticketed so won't proceed with checkin.

All QF charter flights will have a QF flight number, however not all of these flights will be loaded into Altea eg QF Captains Choice Tours so in these circumstances as it's not possible to enter a frequent flyer number against a pax name no points can be earned.

I earned on QF (National Jet) Perth - Mt Keith back in the day.

Who knows? FIFO flights were always a bit of a lucky dip with points. With National Jet, it used to vary depending on whether it was dressed up as a Qantas flight or not.

Was about 5 years ago. My memory ain't that good, especially when l wasn't interested in Points or SC's back then....

Your memory is correct. With the change to QF from Ansett (just a few weeks before Ansett went bust but thats another story:eek:) all flights to/from Mt Kieth and Leinster accrued points and SC's. Also any WMC employees with Ansett Status was matched by QF.

The change to Alliance from QF saw Alliance set up a lounge to house the employee's as a softening for the lose of status with QF.

Be very thankful BHP moved the contract for Mt Keith / Leinster to Alliance, otherwise the QF lounge in Perth would be far worse than it is today.
