Priority Tags or lack thereof

It is not unclear on that page. That page is specifically detailing benefits of QC membership and states that priority handling is a benefit for QC members , Gold and Platinum members on domestic services. It then details that Gold and Platinum get Business tags and that Qantas Club members get Priority Tags

That's correct and it specificially only applies to Australian and NZ domestic flights. It is silent on international flights and it certainly doesn't say that gold and plat members get priority luggage (of either type) on international flights.

So I'm not sure it is valid to says paid QP members don't get priority luggage on the basis of this link. Especially, when some of our experience is different.

In the section of the QFF pages Benefits and privileges ( Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Benefits & Privileges - Status Privileges ) it shows that Gold and Platinum members get priority luggage handling for international flights

ergo Gold and Platinum members are entitled to priority handling on both domestic and international flights and that Qantas Club members are entitled to priority handling on domestic flights

Dave
Well these are status benefits, IMO you can't draw conclusions about QP member entitlements from the Benefits listed for status.

Unfortunately I can only point to experience and not a T&C, perhaps I was lucky

They also do not say that Qantas Club members are not entitled to Arrivals Lounge access in London so , by that logic, there is no reason to think that they can't... hrmmmm

The benefits list the additional benefits that the QC membership does provide; given that it specifically states that domestic priority baggage is provided , it is logical to infer that they do not get it internationally since if they did, it would be mentioned

For Gold and Platinum members, the international luggage priority benefit is specifically covered on the status benefits page and there is no mention of Qantas Club members getting the benefit

If you have received the benefit internationally, then that is nice but is neither something to expect nor relied upon

Have QP members been allowed in the Arrivals lounge in london? If not then I wouldn't expect that is a benefit.
(my job involves some interpretation of legistation, these types of discussions can go on for days, weeks and months)

Yep, it was good luck. :D

But anyway, OT i suppose as the OP was about a domestic route, CNS-BNE.

QC members have never been entitled to International priority luggage handling AFAIK so is no different conceptually

The conceptually difference is between entitlement and experience:

QP members may not be entitled to priority tags but some have experience of getting priority tags. (admittedly my stats seem to be based on a sample of 1)
On the other hand, with the lounge mentioned in London. I assume QP members are not explicitly entitled and there is no experience of QP members being let in either.

Your previous posts relate to entitlement to luggage tags internationally. QC members are not entitled to them; sometimes they may get them if the agent happens to do it ( same as sometimes I see them tag AA platinum members with priority ) but there is no entitlement nor reason to expect it

Yeah, I suffered a cabbie rant the other night about not having more than one taxi exit thru the "chopper", and wholeheartedly agree with him. Same experience re time/money to get to Gateway, although lets not get me started on BNE airport again.

If you think BNE is bad, wait till you hit PER  especially on the flight home from BNE that lands close to midnight! Have had a 1.5 hour wait before.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought QP members didn't get priority tags on int'l flights?

I believe it's not listed as a benefit, however I have a 100% success rate in both PER and the international port, on a sample size of 8 flights

The luggage arrived onto the carousel in SYD relatively quickly last night. My bag was the 61st, which is not too bad, and was tagged with business tags. The first bag out was a non-priority tagged bag and then a mixture of business tagged, priority tagged and non-priority tagged bags in no particular order or pattern.

You actually counted the bags as they came out? That's a fair effort, given that often bags will loop around before the 2nd lot comes out.

Yes. I was the first person off the aircraft and I was the first person standing where the bags come out. I play silly games like counting bags to pass the time occasionally. ;) I actually remembered this thread and was interested to see when my bag came out.

I can sum you up in 1 word... "crazy"

Well I am crazy too as I often count the bags to.The only time it was easy was a recent LAN Peru flight when our 2 bags were 1 and 2.
It doesnt bother me about getting priority tags it is when they come out that is important.

Given the in-flight Crownies and goodness know what in the QF BNE Dom J lounge; that's a mighty effort ... I might have been seeing double by then:oops:

Some people may call it crazy. For me it is just a game. Like counting cards.

I didn't overdo it yesterday. It was 2 Crownies in the apartment tidying up and packing, then a schooner of new at Central station, 3 vodka and oranges in the lounge, 2 warm Crownies on the flight and 3 Pure Blondes at Bardwell Valley trivia night last night.

That sounds like a fair bit to me, and I'm a young fellow and supposed to be able to take that in my stride... ;)

Take note that the alcohol was consumed over 9 hours so I think the alcohol content in my blood at any point in time was not very high. I was sober enough to wake up at 6:00am this morning with no ill effects. A shame it was not possible to play golf with the crazy weather in Sydney right now.

Ah, that's OK then ;)

Happy to report the weather here is beautiful, and I'm about to head off and vote and then maybe hit the driving range for some much needed practise :lol:
