Are you serious?

If you don't test enough, use faulty test kits, or you test wrong people, you don't know how many are/were infected.

If there is no concerted effort for consistancy of reporting (and no relevant testing/diagnosis) then you don't know how many related deaths.

Allegedly both the above is occuring/occurred in many countries.

Oh! and besides the inconsistencies and inaccuracies; then there is the political fudge factor to the figures in some countries.

Two things about my comment, and it was also directed at the quote above yours, was that the message I got from them was that the US had the worst record in the world, and then the 'known' comment was tossed in as well. Patently, the US is far from having the worst record in the world, and 'known' cases would apply to most other countries as well.

My main point of adding known, is what is not known is not known and that applies to all countries including Australia.

From many reports and interviews from USA Governors, as one example only in one country only, who have stated that they have insufficient test kits or conducted insufficient testing to actually know the size of their ongoing problem.

They know (known) the ones they have tested. They (and we in Australia) do not know who has the infection. We only know (known) the ones we have tested that came back with a positive result.

Victoria is finding out in the last day or two via intensive testing that the virus is out there in the general population and the more testing they do, the more they know (known).
