Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I think it goes without saying that such behaviour by passengers is beyond appalling. That nothing is being done to deal with this situation be it added police presence or otherwise beggars belief. So I think it’s completely reasonable that they do go on strike. No one should have to deal with such behaviour as part of their job.

No doubt this will be a major burden for commuters as I reckon bus transport represents the primary public transport infrastructure in the city. But can you blame the drivers? Hopefully this action raises attention for what I think is an important issue.

100% agree. They should be on full pay under those circumstances.

Still it looks like a bargain compared to the Metro...or the Olympics.
Can’t comment on the metro but if you’re referring to the 2000 Sydney Olympics it may not have been delivered on budget but it was certainly delivered on time.

That’s great news for travellers having enjoyed that discount when I visited back in January. One word of warning: ensure you pick up a SmartTraveller card and tap on, even if the fare is free since inspectors could in theory bust you for not having a valid fare.

One thing to be wary of if you’re flying JetStar and Qantas is it’s a bit of a pain getting to the train station as terminal 3 isn’t directly connected to a train station. Meaning you’ll need to walk 1 km to Radcliffe Station or take one of the buses over there. Not a big deal unless you don’t have a SmartTraveller card to use for your free transit, as it’s my understanding those cards aren’t sold in the terminal
Is there an election on soon there as well????
I don’t think it’s wise to comment about the potential political motives of such decisions. Such discussion is probably best left for the comment section if Sky News.

Just thought I’d check to see what the current situation in Melbourne is regarding transit to/from the airport? I’m guessing SkyBus remains the best option in terms of price and speed to the CBD from Tullamarine?

If you'd like to save a buck you could do what I did last week. Train to Broadmeadows Station then catch the 901 bus to the airport. Costs $5.30 rather than the $20ish of the skybus if you have enough time

Sydney CBD to airport for family of 5 on Sunday was $99.70. Pre-booked chauffeured Audi Q7 airport to city on Friday night with my regular driver was $94.50. But for country kids the train was a novelty.
