Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I think the danger of taking public transit be it in Sydney or elsewhere in Australia is overblown. I’d encourage anyone to try taking the bus from Detroit airport to downtown or the London Underground for that matter.
Or perhaps the NY subway where you might get burnt to death by some vagrant.

The London underground is perfectly safe. If you think otherwise, please provide your evidence.

Re: the lady that stabbed the other lady, supposedly it was to do with one or the others (2 ladies) background, one didnt like it, or made comments, and stabbed the other lady, and the man got stabbed too, as he tried to stop the fight.
Granted it was just a biro, or pen, while it can cause bleeding, the nib does not go deep, but the plastic part can penetrate.

Would have been worst if it was a knife.

Seems perfectly on topic to me. It really just reinforces how safe public transport is in Australia.

Going onto the SIN side of the equation, they do it so well, from Changi to Tanah Merah, change from feeder to mainline from there, to city all for Sgd$2.36!
Imagine if SYD T1/T2/T3 airport train fare was from the airport to Sydney city was say, Aud$5 (vs as it is now, from Mascot metropolitan station to city), fixed fee, ie, they removed the gate fee, and charged just a bit more than the 10km train fare ride.
I can only dream, what happens in 2030.
The NSW gov probably wont remove the gate fee anyway.

The Sydney Trains gate fee at the airport is a massive public policy failure - apparently we get the politicians we deserve.

Recently I caught the train to Mascot then the bus to domestic, well worth my while to save the station access fee. I think that may be my regular routine, similar to catching the 901 to Broadmeadows from Melbourne Airport

I remember once traffic from T2/T3 backed up almost all the way to the QF head office so I got off the bus after just 1 stop from Mascot and walked instead. But I think those days are over with the road works completed?

Good question. Anyone?
Years since I've done that but would be nice to know if issues arise with the bus.

I’ve not done it but Google suggests you can walk along Robey St - which would be more direct anyway.

The flyover preview shows the crossing over QANTAS drive (where the “16 min” arrow is pointing at.

I might try it this Tuesday (inbound flight), if I feel energetic.
BTW, that time was from the Pullman to T3 arrivals. If arriving on VA, it’s now easy to walk across the demolished car park that’s operating for car rentals.

If arriving at T3 and don’t have much luggage, the 350 bus starts right out front and every 10mins or so. The 420 bus also picks up at the same area but you just need to check which direction the 420 is heading.

I have walked it, from T3/T2 to Mascot train station, 10 mins they say, but more so, with those set of traffic lights, its 15 mins or more.
I am not there till Dec, so cant say if the overhead arr road from Joyce Dr up to T2/T3 dep has completed, googlemaps does not give any updates, ...
Some show the pylons, and some show still the lorries and tractors.
Will do the Sarah St hotel stay, and then get the 350 bus stop thats behind it to get around.
$18.70 capped is still quite a high sum to meet, for max day fare, compared to $11 for MEL, and same for ADL.

Not forgetting that now, all traffic comes down past the Stamford, all in one direction, and going up the other way, is via 7th Ave.
They changed the traffic flow, the first time I used the 350 after the changes, (I didnt know), thought the bus driver had missed a turnff!
Going up via Robey St nowadays, and coming down via ORiordan.

I have walked that very route both ways several times this year, either to/from the Ibis or the Pullman. For VA & T2 I just use the station underpass.

I even did this from T1 in conjunction with the terminal transfer bus.
