Putting elite status bag tag onto carry on. Yay or Nay?

For recent flight SYD-LST we used our carry-on bags with Q-tags, for the short visit. Knowing we had to carry a couple of items that always excite the airport security people we checked both bags. using the Q-tags. So occasionally Q-Tags can be useful on carry-on cases.
Even carrying my car and home keys make me nervous when walking through security these days 😅

I want a tag on my carry on for when I drop it off in hotels before check in, or leaving it at the hotel when I have a late flight back.
If someone gives me a free sturdy tag I will use it as I've added my name and Email using dymo labels.
I do have a bit of a bag addiction as I have 5 different carry on bags depending on the travel I am doing and they all have the various Q tags I have got over the years, some Silver some Gold.

So as the question says, Putting elite status bag tag onto carry on, Yay or Nay?

I've just received two new Air New Zealand Gold bag tags in the mail and suffice to say they won't be making an appearance on my carry on baggage anytime soon. The Qantas coasters QBag Tags are another one, you see people who've got them attached small bags that have/never will be checked in and it's often common to see them without any contact details written in leaving me confused as to the point.

Now I can see why they can be useful, Air New Zealand used to use them for FastBag (where you could drop checked baggage up to 15kg at the regional aircraft door) and Qantas does use the QBag tag for checked bags, but is attaching them to the smallest of items just screaming DYKWIA or am I missing something here?
I often travel with heavy work documents so the bag is too heavy for carry on on the way to work but light enough to carry on in the other direction.

I now use a clear plastic sealable pocket that sits in my handbag for potentially problematic items. I take this out and have my liquids all in one clear plastic bag on one tray. Soon we will be travelling in a just pair of undies and one of those hideous windbreaks you see on UK beaches…..

I still have high hopes for airport security in AU, once they fully rollout scanners that don't require us to take out our laptops and liquids!

Perhaps I am being too optimistic...

Last I passed through MEL International, the staff that dealt with a line of people waiting for their bags to be manually checked kept giving the person behind the scanning monitor the "wtf" look, as the dude seemed to just divert most bags to be examined again. LOL.

The best ones consult first with the person(s) doing the manual scans if they'd like to take a closer look. I.e. they use their collective experience to decide on it.
