And the 1984 Roo'd 737s are no more.

The final aircraft VH-VYF went into the TSV paintshop tonight.

You can still see the livery on a few Dash8s and 717s, but I suspect not for long.
 
And down to our last NZ-registered Qantas aircraft.

ZQG withdrawn from NZ registry on 31/10.

Reportedly ZQG will become VYZ as the missing sequential rego VZN got allocated to a hot air balloon some time ago, and ZQH will become VZQ

VH-VYZ made its first flight today under Australian registration. ZK-ZQH has been parked at BNE since 9-Nov, so looks like we no longer have any Red tails with a Kiwi flag

...Commencing August 2015 and taking about 12 months, the Qantas Domestic 737 fleet of 67 aircraft is being refurbed.
It does not appear that the 8 NZ registered (ZK) aircraft are being changed....

moa999, great work as usual.

I read the first seven pages of this topic (but not the linked article) so apologies if my question was answered elsewhere, but for the many who read this but may not have read all previous pages, may I ask why the refurbishments are taking much longer than the '12 months' you indicated three and a half years ago?

I appreciate that some B738s have also undergone a maintenance C-check that sees them in the workshops for a typical five weeks not say eight days.
 
I'd say mostly that, and they went from 67 to 75 as the former NZ fleet got absorbed.. And seemingly didn't refurb many/any over Devember/January.

But yes definitely taken longer than I expected.. but then EBG is still flying 2x2x2 as well.

Were the VH-VX* first deliveries the planes taken from the AA order when AA were in financial strife?
I recall flying on one with an AA interior after coming from the US and it really threw me in my sleep deprived jetlag.
 
QF took over an AA order after 9/11 and the Ansett collapse. Not sure if any were delivered with an AA fitout
