I suggest we meet at Gate 11 on Friday, which is opposite where the Lounge Entry is. As "they" will be having tea and bikkes upstairs, and with the flight departing at noon I expect people will be herded to the gates around 11.30 at latest. Maybe we meet up at 11am for our own little celebration, we can then wave our signs, take photos and call it a day?

I’m potentially looking tight with work noting the later departure time for CBR (has overlooked it) but will see what I can wangle!!! This looks awesome!

I almost feel bad saying so - but I have scored a surprise ticket out of BNE - due to another fantastic member accidentally booking two....I have been coming up with my own memorabilia!! (That’s a very faded upper deck boarding pass!)

Just putting it out there, they could easily have given everyone a really special experience by putting on the brunch in the Chairmans Lounge. This wouldn't impact regular guests of these lounges, as none of the CL's are scheduled to re-open until August anyway... and I feel there's easily enough space in these lounges for the number of guests on these 747 flights.

Having seen the amount of pax, staff, TV etc there is unfortunately no way we would have fitted into the SYD CL.

Yes the regular Qantas Clubs at SYD/BNE/CBR are big enough.

They should have just run QF1463 as the B747 down from SYD to CBR...

You only go down the stairs at Gate 3 if you are boarding from there. Boarding passes are scanned at the top.

As per the other thread, I unfortunately don't have a seat on the flight but plan to head out to the airport on the day. I like @kookaburra75 & @SydneySara's idea!



I already know a few of the CBR-based AFFers, but perhaps I'll try to wear something recognisable on the day for those who may not have been to a CBR event before.

Are you going to be around, @prf31?

I love the fact that the very final ever PAX flight of a QF 747 will be departing from the middle of the Virgin area.

Gate 4 is where the SQ B777 and QR A350's pull in, so it should handle the B747 ok. Best place for photos would be the windows between Gates 4 & 5.

Qantas Bronze and I scored two tickets. Are you by any chance in that state that can’t manage social distancing and parts of which are now back in lockdown?

The 747 joy flight will depart from the terminal at 12pm. On return passengers will disembark at the gate and have an opportunity to see the aircraft up close from the tarmac and take photos.
