Qantas 787 Event

AND people who fly MANY airlines dont know what their logo represents as well!! SIA, CATHAY, CHINA EASTERN.WESTERN.SOUTHERN,......I COULD GO ON AND ON AND ON......some non kiwis would even say 'what is a koru'? I suppose it all depends on how much people want to research and find info!!

Isn't the point and function of a logo is that it is recognizable and associated the product/company?

One of the worst 're-logo-ing' was BHP after its merger with Billiton - a series of blobs which could not be reconciled with either the name or function of the company; literally meaningless. If the stylists keep going on their current trajectory, the 'Flying kangaroo' will become the 'Flying white blob' .

Commonwealth and ANZ Bank logos are also just, well, weird.

+1 upset passenger for the roo losing it's paws :(
I can understand that the new 787 is coming and the centenary is in a few years, but it does feel a little soon after the last livery update.
5 different liveries since 1920 and the last one was, what, 2007?
I was pretty content with what we had for the now AJ.

The logo is fine. Slightly tweaked, but very recognisable as Qantas, particularly when applied on the tails. Simplifying also means it will reproduce well on other touchpoints. I personally always thought the fake tail triangle on the logo looked out of place - see what I mean on your QFF card.

As for the typeface... think year 2000 millennium tech. It doesnt feel Australian or relevant. The only benefit (imo) is the weight is a lot lighter, allowing larger applications (eg compare on planes) which will improve comprehension/readability - useful when a plane can be some distance away - and smaller applications (when a bold font would just become a blob).

Interesting question - is this what QF needs to progress?

Given the timing on repainting A330s etc - I am rather surprised this has happened now. The whole thing feels a little underdone..

I think we can all give our opinions about the logo and all be right, or wrong. Some like it some don't.

For my 2 cents worth...
Not keen on the new logo. Looks to "smudgey".
QF loyalty are obviously involved in the design process, they have now enhanced the 'roo.

J Seat map from Ten News
1 row of 2, then 10 rows of 4, with a small mini cabin of 3 rows aft of the galley

Edit: Hadn't noticed the AusBT article also has a similar pic, albeit from a different angle

Really love the logo and don't mind the pawless roo- although I'm only just over the roo losing its 'wings' all those years ago (lol). I like the silver dimensional reworking. The font is awesome, will really work well on all sized aircraft and pleased with today's announcements but wanted to hear they'd taken up orders on dozens more. Good news seems to be common from AJ these days. Well done

I think the logo is nice but the presentation/event via FaceCarp (I was not important enough to get an invite) was more hype than substance.
Q to invited P1: was it a good excuse for a J lounge meetup?

No luck with the website for me. My old MacBook Pro has frozen twice. Guess it needs a refresh too.
