Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

If Tatooine had a lounge as good as new EY F is, I'd happily put up with the likes of Watto...!

I had thought I'd never fund a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than the HBA QF lounge.. but now that you mention zit.. Mos Eisley Cantina.... (clearly why they closed up in BNE)
I'll try have a closer look at which 380 is being worked on but unlikely.
I imagine it's the one that just went in recently - probably for a C or D check imo

But really it matters which comes out first - and when.

From AUH just now. 3 giant rats in the desert sand, and one seems to be having something done in a hangar. Can't tell who is who in the desert zoo, though.

EDIT2: Done.
Why is the National Airline of Australia sending aircraft to the evil ME airlines for repairs at the expense of Australian jobs?
Surely it’s in the country’s best interest to bring those jobs back onshore ASAP 😝

Ive had this argument with the Checkin at SYD and MEL. Even giving them the printout.
They basically ignore it.
Same I had revenue qf and a classic award (with qantas points) aa flight from lax and they wouldn’t through check me. This was at the first check in too. The person said “I know the rules and you can’t in this situation”.

In AUH: B, C, K... And L
Parted out: E, F
Operating: A, G, H, I, J... And D
Would have hoped more than one was being worked on.
OQL needs the refurb (last one)
OQB, OQK believed to be there for checks/ landing gear replacement
OQC hasn't flown for 2yrs so needs full return to service

probably for a C or D check imo
The nomenclature is actually a little different.
There is an A check every 1000hrs, a C check every 36MO/18000FH (used to be 24MO ). A and C are not used officially but remains in common use

I don't recall how FC , other systems, come into the equation(s),
AFAIK there is no "D" check

The QF fleet has high FH compared to FC wheras the EK fleet I believe has higher FC compared to FH

MO = months
FH = flight hours
FC flight cycles

No, for my sins, I'm a Qantas regular traveller.
I did have a backup plan to request a transfer on SYD or MEL to SFO on UA if the MEL A380 service is signifigantly delayed.
Having flown several signifigantly delayed A380s SYD- LAX in the last 6 months with missed connections , I am a bit stressed out .
My ultimate destination is Anchorage and originally we would have got there on the one ticket out of Australia.
However , the AA LAX-SEA flight was cancelled and Alaskan wouldn't come to the party and release award seats to replace it - so we have ended up with an award ticket thru to SFO and paid ticket SFO to Anchorage.
I had hoped that there would be a way of interlining our bags from MEL thru to ANC to make things easier but it looks like this doesnt happen any more. I thought I would see if I could "kindly"request the QF agent to check them thru but that looks problematic too.
I mentioned the UA cancellations just to show that it is not just Qantas that has this kind of problem!
To report back, QF 93 MEL to LAX left pretty well on time-ok 30 minutes late but thats fair enough.
Arrived LAX 45 minutes late but again thats ok.
Service was unbelievably slow in J -2 hours before a post take off drink !
Meals were ok - the hinterland beef was incredibly over cooked but edible .
All in all -I made it in good shape.
I did use the "mobile passport control " at LAX and was sent straight away to a border agent and thru immigration in 4 minutes !

2 hours for a drink is shocking
I assume it wasn’t due to turbulence?
Pilot referred to potential turbulence until cruising height .Presumably this was when seat belt off sign occurred but still it was 60 minutes untii drinks arrived.

Anyone know the total number of A380's in active operation? Against total produced. And why QF can't "borrow" or wet lease like they've done with the Finnair A330's?

I would say that someone at QF would be too embarrassed to suggest that considering that they scrapped two and have four parked in the Middle East - three of which have been gathering dust there for a long time - I'm not sure that they could explain that to shareholders either...
