Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

With the current unreliability of the 380s, and how busy the MEL-SIN corridor is, that feels like it would be playing right into the hands of SQ
The current unreliability won't last forever. We're just stuck in this period where all the fleet isn't active for one reason or another.

By the time QF gets their new planes (2 years minimum) if QF 380s are still constantly breaking down then they have bigger issues.

Hasn’t QF got A380’s that have been in the hangar for years that have still got refrigeration issues after being returned to service?

I haven't been on an A380 of any colour since before covid and was looking forward to QF's over to Johannesburg in a few months and then back from the US in December.

I was annoyed that the A380 for JNB first got subbed out for a B787 a few months ago & when it turned out the best USA return for me was ex DFW, also B787.

Now counting my blessings!!

We are not flying on QF A380s as they are not running on time. We would not be the only ones using SQ for long hauls and we stop in Los Angeles with no immediate flights once we land.

Yeah we were booked in F Syd-Jnb rtn on the A380 in August....flight got changed to a 787 and we were downgraded to J disappoiningly....took a couple of calls to get the points difference refunded...now sort of relieved as we ned to get to Jnb on time for a tour starting the following day!

Ps..Have flown Sq A380 post Covid...their A380s don't seem to have the same issues as Qf's...or maybe they have spares around so minimise the delays ;)

Seems QF12 on 12/7 will be undergoing a equipment change. Can't select a seat only the aisle/window preference.

The W and J cabins are pretty full. Additionally, the preallocation limit may also be filled or there is limited available seats for your status level to pick. It doesn't have to mean an equipment downgrade.

This evening once again QF 11 has a four hour delay out of Sydney for LAX.
Is this due to a lack of QF A380s or some other reason ?
For the past few weeks, the departures for QF11 have been pretty well on time, but 4 hour + delays means a lot of inconvenience and changes to connecting flights out of LAX, often meaning that there will be no connection until the next day.
Has Qantas put out any statements as to why this has happened for two days in a row ?

That is a joke eh ? My last flight with QF was CFS to MEB - 5 hour delay MEB/CFS, returning, it became a 6 hour delay due to a turn round in flight, return to terminal wait 5 hours at Tulla, , then fly back again. I have a feeling the A380s are at the stage of giving QF headaches, or the weather has been cough in Sydney. which adds to the delay outbound and inbound. My QF on Wednesday is critical that it is on time or near to it for connections.

Huh?

QF not only fly Essendon to Coffs Harbour.. but in an A380 via MEL? And it turned around after five hours? Something seems very wrong with the navugation for a 90ish minute flight....

It looks like a roll-on delay from a massive delay to QF11 on Friday, causing the return QF12 to then be delayed by half a day. The aircraft operating your flight is VH-OQH, which is just about to arrive into SYD operating Friday night's delayed QF12, which is what's caused the delay to your flight.

The turn around flight I referred to was CFS to Melbourne (Tullarmarine), did I err with my prefix ? Please read my Post again. I am talking two totally different flights and destinations. Hope that the delays and equipment is sorted for me by Wednesday.
Thank you to everyone else who has been helpful.

With respect, I read the post I quoted in isolation, and was trying to figure out the link between a delay between Coffs and Melbourne had to do with the A380 (this thread). However, I looked back at earlier posts thanks to the prompting and nite you are on QF11 on Wednesday.

If your flight is "critical" had you considered flying the day before to kittigate the potential for delays affecting you getting to your destination? (Something I would suggest for any carrier tbh)

Btw MEB is the 3 letter code for Melbourne Essendon. MEL is correct for Tulla.

Interesting. Pushed back around 10.45pm but took off just after 11pm. Does that mean it missed curfew? Is it based on wheels up or when the plane leaves the gate?
I think it's been mentioned in the ask a pilot thread before that as long as you have clearance before 11pm you can take off after that.
