Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Hi Guys,

i've read through the forum so sorry if I missed it but could anyone tell me if you sign up through a referral as the signatory do you lose QFF points or could you possibly gain bonus QFF points?
I do understand that the referee will be entitled to a bonus so I would prefer to do it this way, just not at my own expense.

Also I did see a referral page for this card a few days back but can't seem to find it now? Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly as per my reply to your question in the Introductions Forum:

"I believe the current AMEX referral offers for the Qantas Premium card, give the same number of points to the applicant as the "standard" offer on the AMEX website. This differs to some of the other AMEX cards, where the current referral offers give the applicant significantly more points than the standard offer.

Having said that, I would encourage you to use someones referral link, especially from this site :-), as it is a great way of giving back to the AFF community for zero inconvenience to you. Plus you could really make someone's day or holiday plans!! :)"

If you'd like to use a referral the thread for this card can be found here .

Once again, good luck with your application.

As mentioned above, the points you'll receive will be exactly the same as not using the links. It would be nice if you could get extra points but that's not the case, so you're basically just helping someone out but at no loss to you. Amex have been great so far with depositing bonus points on time.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Happy to report that I have received my 80k+2.5k bonus points and they've already been transferred across to my qantas account. I already had an amex issued card before applying for this card so your chances are pretty good. I didn't receive any material regarding the bonus points in the welcome pack.

so do the points the transferred immediately when you reach the $3k spend ? or does it take some time for this to happen?

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

By all reports, the points will show on your Amex account almost immediately and will transfer to your QFF account at the end of the statement month.

Once you spend $3,000 you should get the remaining 75K bonus points. It's split up into a 5K activation bonus and the remaining 75K is paid out after you hit the spend criteria.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Shame I already have a Velocity Amex

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Applied for mine yesterday and got approved straight away - very happy to get the points boost again - have been stuck waiting for 12 month cancellations to tick over
Has anybody been successful in reaping the bonus pts whilst holding existing AMEX or who has cancelled an AMEX card within last 12mths?

Edit: Note to self - do not be afraid to read further into thread before opening gob!

Yes. I have a david jones Amex (since 2009).
I ticked no when asked do I already have a amex card during the application process. Approved. Following approval Amex did send letter saying our records show you are an existing member so credit limit on new card has been calculated taking that into account.
Activated new card (creating new separate login).
New online account indicates member since 2009, as does the new qantas amex card.
Spent the $3k on Saturday just past, 75k points allocated today.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Just want to share a recent Amex card offer experience: Spent $100 get $20. Spend $100 and got $20 back. Also got the reply from Woolworth next day of purchase that some items are out of stock so they paid me $50 back. I also bought some cancer council products in this transaction which were covered by my health insurance so I got refund for those products as well. In the end I paid $10 and got $20 back. Such a good deal and Qantas 2 points for $100 were bonus. :)

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

I applied last night and was advised final decision within 5-10 working days. Rcvd SMS this arvo saying approved and will receive card within 7 working days.
I ticked no when asked do I already have a amex card during the application process.
I did not even see Q re whether I have existing Amex - I saw Q asking what other CC I hold - I just clicked Visa.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Applied Monday evening and received message on Tuesday morning advising approved. Seems to be rather slack no need to provide proof of earnings assets etc. Can see how some people could get into credit card debt with what seems to be little or no verification.

Did any one have to provide proof of identity or 100 points via passport etc when activating the card?

I think I did with my first ever amex. Subsequent ones never did. I think they clarify based on credit file, but they also do not allow postage to anywhere other than the listed address. So that way someone can't apply for your card and have it sent elsewhere.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

I don't think I needed to provide ID for either application other than my Drivers Licence number during the application process.
They didn't even ring for verification of my income to my employer.

Re: Qantas American Express Premium card /82,500 QFF points / $249 / $3k spend 3 mont

Just recieved my new card I applied for on the weekend.

I started freaking out when I read the don't use before date: 16th Feb.

As Ive got bills due on the 15th!

But fear not, I now understand it!

Limit is a measly $2k..

So will need to do a deposit into it asap! (So I can pay the bills by monday of nearly $2.5k.)

I did the same thing lol, I also got a pretty low limit, I just called today and had them even up my credit limits on both my cards. (took some from my velocity card and added to new Qantas card)

I'm not having any luck!

Activated by phone, that is... after I got blocked for doing too many wrong things online (I typed everything I could type correctly!).

Will ring them in morning, as they seem busy right now.

Grrrrr
