Just recieved my new card I applied for on the weekend.

I started freaking out when I read the don't use before date: 16th Feb.

As Ive got bills due on the 15th!

But fear not, I now understand it!

Limit is a measly $2k..

So will need to do a deposit into it asap! (So I can pay the bills by monday of nearly $2.5k.)

I hope you have worked it out that 02/16 means Feb 2016 (not 16th Feb)

My bonus points are showing on my card when I hit 2.8K spend on my card... I'll take that

Time to meet the spend criteria on the wifes card.

According to the t&cs 'selected spend on Qantas air Australia'

As per up thread some have advised the fees that form a qff redemption will trigger this.

Card received Friday spent $3200.00 on Qantas products immediately after activating. Wonder how long before points show and are transferred.

Points generally show immediately after transaction settles (3 business days or so). Points generally sweep around the 25th-28th of the month.

It's activated by the purchase on the main 'qantas' merchant account. A flight purchased through qantas website, the taxes of an award, but the cheapest thing I can think of is paying for a seat selection.

You don't need to spend anything to get the Qantas lounge passes. Just call the concierge and ask for them to be sent.

Points Posted 75000 welcome bonus and 5000 activation bonus. Only got the card Friday evening so well impressed now just need it to sweep across to QF

For me, it was the taxes on an australian qantas FF redemption flight. Note that Qantas flights not issued from Qantas Air Australia (i.e. AA redemptions in the US) come from a different merchant.

You can then cancel the redemption and get it refunded (though there is a points cost to this).

What if one where to book a normal fully refundable flexi fare and cancel two weeks later?


Book on one card cancel booking and credit card and then have them return money to a different card

$50 Qantas Flight gift voucher triggered first spend and lounge passes for me....

Qantas Epiqure spend did not trigger, nor were there any bonus points on Epiqure or on some QF reward tickets where the taxes were paid in Hong Kong

Does anyone know if they then post the passes out, or is there some other step required?
