Hi all, I'm considering going for this one but have a few doubts/questions:
- I'm on a 457 visa and have living here since Sept-15, so I have a limited credit history. I have a Bankwest account, HSBC account, Diners (via employer) & Bankwest QFF MasterCard - all in good standing. Would applying for another card so soon (applied for the BW card in Nov) damage my score?

Generally, any credit application will reduce your score. A number of commentators on this forum don't think it's much of an issue, others are more concerned by it. It sounds like you're on a decent income though, which Amex will probably appreciate!

- Paying for utilities seems to count under 'eligible purchases' for the minimum spend - correct? As would booking a QF flight?

Yes, the T&Cs call out what isn't allowed, like cash advances, annual fees etc. Booking the QF flight will also get you the lounge passes and 2,500 extra bonus points under the current offer.

So I purchased $50 gift voucher - hopefully that is Eligible Purchase.

is there a smaller value gift voucher value that will still be considered an eligible purchase?

Okay, so I hit the 3k spend last night, however when I go to view my points in my Amex account it takes me to the page and I get
"We are unable to complete this request at the present time"

I can see the points from my Velocity account but not from this card. #Worried

It's OK, amex website goes offline from time to time, I don't think that's an indicator of your personal likelihood to get points.

I received an American Express Essential Credit Card back in mid November 2015 - does that mean I cannot apply or receive points for this promotion?

The t&cs exclude anyone who currently holds or has held one in the last 12 months. Up to you if you want to risk it

Currently hold DJs black Amex card & also recently applied for this Amex gold. After spending $3k I can confirm I've received the points.

DJs Amex card is a unique special partnership in where DJs funds all the credit but have an Amex stamp on the card. So not technically an Amex card.

The DJ Card is listed on the Amex website https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/all-cards/?inav=au_menu_cards_pc_view_pr
and so yes I would presume that it is is an "Amex" card as in Amex issues it.

Currently hold DJs black Amex card & also recently applied for this Amex gold. After spending $3k I can confirm I've received the points.

DJs Amex card is a unique special partnership in where DJs funds all the credit but have an Amex stamp on the card. So not technically an Amex card.

My mind has just been put to ease! (DJ store card mentioned a few pages ago).

Happy to report that I've received the two Qantas lounge passes. Did not have to request them to be sent, it was all done automatically. Took just under 4 weeks from the date the eligible Qantas purchase was made (and 2 weeks after points were sweeped to my Qantas ff account) to receiving them in the mail so not bad at all!

On Tuesday I activated card and purchased a $50 Flight Voucher - onl today did the transaction appear as did the points and bonus pts:



sf can you login to your AMEX account? Can you see any transactions? If you are genuinely concerned call them - they are very helpful. I did call yesterday and agent told me that Qantas sometimes a bit slow at processing transactions so to be patient.

I can login to my account, I just can't see the points table (showen above in your example) I can see it for my Velocity card, but not this Qantas one. it WAS working, but as soon as I hit the 3k mark, NOTHING.

Just did, she said my account is at 83k points and will sweep over on the 7th of March and that is good enough for me. I ended the call before she did any more research, I don't really care to see the points table that much, I was just really wanting the bonus points, which it seems I will be getting.
