This is what I got as well. Applied 30 Jul, received card 3 Aug, quite impressed with the speed. Yesterday, got email saying card is on the way. Funny how post beat email, this time.

Thanks for that. I've emailed AMEX as they haven't mentioned this to affiliates nor is it on their website. I'll report back!

Being a Perthite I'm not sure it will be such a downgrade. IME you can nab PER<>East Coast flights for $200~220, doing it this way allows you to select your desired fare class and travel whenever, etc. Plus can now use to more destinations.

Those prices are pretty rare these days and often the 5:50am departure out of PER. Using the free flight when a fare was $350 one way made it great value for money.

You could always select a higher fare class and just pay the difference. So I still think this is a downgrade. Having said that, I'll keep the card as I still think it's good value, just not as good as previously.

I didn't receive that kind of letter. I received mine on 3rd August. I've taken a snap here. Basically the letter the card is stuck on. A card telling me how to activate and two T&C brochures.


Website only shows the club access to Amex Sydney lounge on 2 occasions and nada about epicure. Weird.

I've had this card since its debut ... IIRC > 20 years and have never used the free flight. This voucher system might get me motivated and start using the benefit.

No route restrictions - just must be a QF flight.

AMEX have said they aren't promoting these new features publicly because they don't go live until 31 October. Existing customers are being advised of the changes now because of the legal notice period.

Thanks for sharing. I thought the lounge passes would be triggered by spend. Wonder if existing cardholders will get the lounge passes if they've already had the flight benefit this card year

I just spoke with them through live chat, They will do nothing to refund qantas Epiqure Premium membership which I didn't expect.
But these features will be added to all existing card holders after the 31st of October.

So don't join up for Epiqure Premium membership before then. and book flights after 31st of october for Qantas club entry.

the freedom of credit to apply to a cheaper flight, say 2 X return mel-syd - then supplement the rest with cash is a real winner. I hope the Velocity plat follows suit with travel credit instead.

Had Amex Plat. card but cancelled it 4 years ago, if approved for this Qantas Amex Ultimate card would the 100K points on offer still be forthcoming?

Definitely, exclusion period is 18 months which you're way past.
