Super. Thanks for that. I thought it still cost USD25-odd for Aussie. I was last in Bali in November of last year and had to pay then.

No chance. its been free for tourist (AU and other countries) to enter indonesia for longer than that

Or you got in the wrong queue. there is actually a good reason to pay the VOA if your purpose of visit is not tourist, so not much reason for customs guy to suggest you dont have to pay ( I think thats how it works)

Anyway, it's a HUGE terminal and I think there will be air-side transit options.

More appropriate to have 'huge' in a larger font too considering the acreage T3 covers! The Plaza Premium Saphire Lounge is on the corner past
Gate 5 and you need to walk past one Plaza lounge on the left before getting to it.

No more Visa on Arrival needed for Australians in Indonesia.

The photos of the lounge above were taken when I was departing on MH from T3 earlier this year.

Good news. That lounge looks quite nice, too.

Probably the wrong queue.

I'm now thinking that I might actually enter the country. I arrive at 2.45pm and check-in for QF opens at 4pm so it sounds like that the size of T3 would mean I could move at a reasonable pace and be at QF check-in as it opens. That minimises the chance of wayward baggage.

Up to you of course.

T3 is a long, long terminal with all the immigration, customs and baggage claim at one end of it. So it depends which gate your aircraft arrives. It can certainly be quite a walk (with many travelators) if it arrives at the other end!

Does anyone have experience transiting through CGK Terminal 3? I'm looking at connecting from QF to AK, and from SQ to QF ...
CGK has been in constant flux for many years, even more than DPS , different every time I go there. I have no hope of offering any reliable advice, except to say I never got lost.

But for some reason, the CGK airport website shows AK as operating from T3 and QF from T2:

That site is wrong for a number of airlines. IME, trust the airline itself. Although even they get it wrong eg when in the process of moving terminals.
