I just like my newspaper in the morning and beer in the afternoon. Oh, and the flexibility to change flights if my meeting finishes early.

I might be wrong, but don't their corporate plus fares already allow this?

OK - so has anyone been pinged by this yet?

I am currently sat on 2 segments and 355 SCs. I am debating whether to put a couple of flights to QF to retain gold before anniversary date in September. However I will then still only have 3 QF segments.

The options are then to flick my post September flights to QF as I have 4 segs on QF in October.

Pros for pre Sep qualification - only need to burn 255 SCs of flights on QF
Cons for pre-Sep - only SG until Sep 08 and may not qualify on segments

Pros for Post Sep qualification - SG until Sep 09 (might even be tempted to push to WP - I have 1080 of SCs of flights confirmed between 1/10 and 26/11 - 1160 if KA join OW)
Cons - higher cost in terms of lost AA points - slight offset by more points available for F upgrades on QF though

Decisions, decisions...

Not sure I understand your post. If you have to put a couple of flights to QF to get to SG and you already have 2 sectors this year, then why would you only be at 3 sectors after that ?

2 trips means at least 2 sectors (being at least 1 sector per one way trip).

Or am I missing something ?

I only have one QF segment. I have multiple flights before 30 Sep - but only 1 on QF. SO I can easily earn enough SCs but not enough segments.

Are you not in a position to do a quick MEL-SYD-MEL or xx_-(Close to xx_)-xx_ trip on QF?

If the recent changes to SOB had been mooted a while ago - I would have epxlored rebooking the whole thing and perhaps doing that.

I think it is going to be SG in October 2007 - I think the longer qualification period is the clincher - and I only miss out on maybe 38K AA points - so one return trip in Oz...

Sacrificing < 1 months SG status to lock up status for 23 months sounds good, particularly as you are already EXP and flying J so lounge access is taken care of.

Might just cost you an UG to F though in early Oct as a lowly PS...;)

Ooh - I have a flight HKG-SYD that I have submitted an F request for.... dang...

Currently sat at F9 A9 - and it is a wednesday night flight ....

Sheesh Shano - making this trickier for me...

Sorry, just got back to this thread. I wasn't aware that DJ offered newspapers on any food or drinks included in fares. If this is the case though, I might consider spinning some travel to DJ if they're corporate fares are less than works QF fares. I'm more than happy, in fact I'll be quite chirpy if someone can correct me. ;)

I should have edited the message a bit more. I was referring to the ability to change flights.

It would work if QF introduces a FQTV/FQTS split in their software enabling someone to accrue miles on another FFP and also allowing that person's revenue contribution to the airline be tracked. Thus you could end up as a double sapphire or emerald, eg QF/AA and be able to enter lounges anywhere! :D

There is no loss to QF in introducing a split system IMHO as you'd still need to contribute a certain level of revenue to the airline in order to gain status. It would in fact benefit the airline in not having accrued points (ie liability) on its books.

Or am I being overly optimistic...

Think your optimistic as QF 'pays' AA for an AA FF flying on their metal and thus provides remuneration for the points that will be earnt..
so allowing double dipping will cost
