Is "RED ROO" still hiding under his desk?

Red Roo announced they were going to be offline until 29th Feb. And why assume a he!

First, I'm confused. Why would I search for a classic award seat by searching for points plus pay?
Search for a cash fare, pick the award option and you will see the following payment option.
Second, the slider in your screenshot is at the "pay" end.
I tried this for my booking. I can't slide the slider down to pay zero. It stops at a payment of $80.42.
Now that doesn't appear so unreasonable. But the points required for that have gone up from 130,000 to 208,104.
So the value of points required to reduce the copayment this way is ridiculously low.
It isn't a good use of points,
I think it is a "feature" otherwise known as a bug.... I do this all the time for domestic flights. If you search for classic awards you are not given the option to reduce the copayment with points. If you search for a normal revenue fare then next to the normal fare is an icon as to whether award seats exist or not. If you then click on the icon for the award seats, you then get the classic award seat but you get the points plus pay slider to reduce the copayment.
Good to know. Thanks, FM. I may not use this, given the low value use of points -- $0.0077/pt in an example I just tried -- but then again I may.
If I recall correctly though the price of a points plus pay fare can vary. The points value isn't set as it is for a classic award fare.
So using this method you could pay a lot more points. I played around a bit and for some J fares the points cost was up to double the classic award cost.
Maybe that is for flights on which the X bucket is full. But you would need to pay attention to make sure you weren't paying a lot more.
Thanks though this could be useful in some circumstances.
Nice cheap shot considering that Red Roo gave AFF notice that they would not be on here for a period of time...
Exactly. This is beyond the scope of the social media team's authority to effect any change.I'm not sure what one would expect RR to do (except to report dissatisfaction from AFF TO QF). It is clearly a deliberate high-level decision to charge the high YQ.
RR seems to be effective at sorting out when things haven't occurred as they ought. Being an e-punchbag probably isn't an effective use of his/her time

For sure, but hopefully will pass on our concerns (and millions like us) about these massive over charges compared to the likes of OW partners CX and AA for instance.
I have no doubt senior management is fully aware of this complaint; after all it is nothing new. Whether or not they'll actually do something about it...For sure, but hopefully will pass on our concerns (and millions like us) about these massive over charges compared to the likes of OW partners CX and AA for instance.

I would say definitely not.
It is another deliberate policy which helps drive punters to spend their points on toasters instead of flights.
And other airlines, my take has been past couple years buy AS or AA miles and even at the awful exchange rate still a bargain, recently booked BNE/HKG/BNE in J all up was AUD $1750, as I do this my QF points are now building at 400K so maybe I'll get to the magic number for two in J around the world and blow the lot.
