No, that would be you and 3 or 4 of your sidekicks on here.;)

Excuse me, I think I've been implicated here as someone who has actively supported that your said failing CEO should be more than deposed as QF CEO - I think I've ranged fates to tried, incarcerated and even physically eliminated.

So don't you dare think of implicating me in your clique.

In fact, I find it hard to think that for someone else who is so passionately against AJ and his ways, why you never supported my said posts and views.

I'd rather drink, eat & watch something different.......I love the fact that I can't do the every day normal things while flying.

Couldn't agree with you more, amaroo.
I dread to think of the days when mobile phone calls, etc will be commonplace in the sky, too :(

It'll happen.

Mind you, before in-flight TV (i.e. visual entertainment), there was no tapping the back of seats (i.e. touchscreens), no loud laughing at the comedies, no glowing screens in a dark cabin, no sounds of clicking controllers from game players......... but, people seems to have gotten used to it all.

Of course, it could also go the way of inflight phones.... it's expensive, it's rarely used, but it's still a standard cabin feature. I don't see inflight internet being relegated as so, however, especially since the USA has gotten used to pretty much affordable in-flight internet, and they're also amongst the most dubious of the world's population who are trying to claim internet access as a basic human right. Same thing with how free internet in hotels is being argued as a standard feature, up there with free air conditioning / heating.

BRW has a CEO Q&A column. This week an executive was asked when he did his best thinking. He replied "On long haul flights.....You're insulated - no phones, no emails, no interruptions". :)

No offence, but frankly I think that's typical bulls@!t coming from someone trying to justify to himself why he is not working on a long haul flight. "I was thinking"...
I used that statement myself many times to justify my laziness...

Why on earth does anyone need to "justify" not working when on a long-haul flight?

People who are properly organised should not need to do this regularly. That does not make them "lazy".

I for one am sorry in fight internet access will not be rolled out on all flights. I would be buying it on every flight except the inbound overnight flights (like SIN-MEL, HKG-MEL) there have been numerous times that being contactable during the flight would have saved me many hours of work after arrival. $40 or so on an airfare of $2000 is no big deal (and I am in Y) and even less so when you look at it in the context of the whole trip(which might exceed $4000). As a comparison at some hotels, I have paid $30 for 100mb - if you consider the costs, QF cook positively cheap compared to that!

I'm disappointed QF will be dropping inflight wifi. I used it last week and found it quite handy. The best use for me was for my Blackberry. I was able to respond to a few emails that saved me a fair bit of hassle if I hadn't had the chance to respond.

Not offended - just find it a little sad. I come from an era where we were expected to memorise vast amounts of poetry - one fragment I still remember. - "what is this life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare....".

I'm not a fan of it, or in flight telephones. I the last place you can go and not have to have someone else's noise or visual noise in your face.

While yes it would have some uses I'm happy to just sit back and snooze or read a book or even stare out the window. Maybe even god forbid have a conversation with someone.

All of these people who say "I am not a fan of it" or similar do not take into account that many people are.

The option should be there as many 1st world airlines provide this.

But of course it is all too hard for Qantas.

*You're the reason we ....have no internet*

I was always taught not to speak to strangers.
Yes so was I! I threw that away in my hippy days and now chat to anyone who wants to respond ( don't worry I am always courteous and if I end up next to you, won't disturb you :). )

Totally agree, it should be an option and all the other premium carriers are doing it as I have mentioned previously.

Just gives those high-end customers and those who want the best value for money another reason to fly with someone else, but then again that's the strategy of QF Int.

QF Domestic has had lots of $$ and work thrown at it, but when you have QCCA working on the A380 who don't even want to come to work, because of the poor pay/conditions, people wonder why the service is not up to standard.

And meanwhile EY has announced, on the same day, that they're rolling out wifi to the entire fleet by the end of 2014, with a better system (Panasonic) to boot:

All Etihad flights to have inflight wifi Internet by end 2014 - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

My experience of the cabin crew on the A380 has been that they have been some of the best crew on QF. I would say in fact that the service in J and F excels that of CX who are one of my preferred airlines for service and comfort..

Disappointing to say the least. Loved the internet flying EK J a few weeks back: Making my partner jealous of the delicious food and drinks with non-stop live updates
