Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I am flying QF127 soon and chose the Barramundi. My assumption is it is very difficult to stuff that up!

Eating in F on the A380 will hopefully make it taste better :D

Yes. I pre selected that too. I'm not sure how much better a toasted sandwich can get on a 9 hour flight ... although the coleslaw might be something special.

Yes, had that, it will taste better washed down with better F champagne...... unfortunately the choices (and food) have been pretty poor lately :(

Pretty much the same dishes for the past 4 or 5 months. Frustrating, especially when they appear on multiple domestic and international routes.

I don't want to start another round of NP bashing (of which I've done my share) but I do find it odd that any top chef would want their name associated with such average fare (overall quality, variety, preparation) and a pretty stagnant menu rotation.

Does look nice, but was the barramundi a substantial enough serve?

The serving size was ok considering I had a good breakfast in the F lounge prior to the flight. If I was very hungry and didn’t make the lounge earlier I might’ve needed something else too.

QF10 PER-MEL 26 July, dep 1430

Decided to try both Dom legs of QF9/10, the promise of the MEL Flounge on the return being the main inducement. Not a bad INT setup at PER T3, though the lack of an airside lounge for anything other than the LHR flight is a big negative. My attempt to enter the International Transit lounge after the second round of security was (as expected) politely refused. In any case from what I surmise from the AusBT reviews, it is no better than the Dom J lounge, and I prefer pizza to hot dogs.

Good flight in 1A, the pre takeoff Champagne (Jacquart - had not had before but better than average for an NV) made the hassle of Int security worth it.

Better movie offerings than the standard DOM fare also. Have lost count of the number of times I have seen Goldfinger but it never gets old.

upload_2018-7-29_12-27-14.jpeg

The offerings. No entree but having overdosed on pizza in the lounge was not too fussed.

upload_2018-7-29_12-29-9.jpeg

Beef bourguignon for mains. In spite of its appearance, was very tasty.

upload_2018-7-29_12-34-6.jpeg

Cheese platter was the perfect accompaniment for the generous refills of the nectar of Champagne. Would be great to see Champagne of in standard Dom J, but I’m not holding my breath.

Champagne and classic Bond equals a good flight!

All in all, impressed with the 789. If they intro a PER-FRA in the future, I might just give it a go in J.

Just got off QF627, operated by the Dreamliner. That made the flight better itself!

Options were beef brisket with veggies or mushroom soup. Also had a Cab Sav. Quite decent for a refreshment flight

Rest of the service on my SYD-PER 12:55 flight was excellent. Kayla the CSM, Chelsea and a couple of other FAs in J were excellent. Flight was over 4.5 hours but meal orders were taken early, two drinks rounds given from the cart, they accommodated my request to have two mains, and they were active throughout the flight. Such a contrast from my last trans con flight on QF.

Same menu for the 4th time, QF trans-con.

You’d think they’d refresh menus since March. The folks who fly this route more often must be utterly sick of the food.
And of course got this again. SYD- AKL dinner. So frustrating.
FA said it was a common gripe. It’s 6 menus on the trans-con and trans-Tasman flights, for 6 months. Have to wait for September for a change. Not good enough, in my opinion,

QF127 SYD/HKG 1/8 10:30am departure

Service great and always coming around asking if you wanted anything else. Captain introduced himself to everyone in the F cabin even though it was J service in F cabin.

Overall impressed when you think F lounge in Sydney and F hard product with J service. (For a short time only)

Once airborne drink plus nuts. Still packaged nuts.

Mate, that’s the Neil Perry F salad you are having there. Show a little more respect, please. o_O

QF9 MEL-PER July 29th dep 1515

Back to PER on the 789 in 6A, packed flight but very good service from CSM Sven and FA Kathryn. After a wonderful extended FLounge experience of a late breakfast of eggs benny, followed by 3 course lunch an hour or so later of salt and pepper squid, braised beef and the hairy pavlova, all washed down with generous amounts of Taittinger and Pommery, took things easy on this flight. Champagne Jacquart was again the offering from the environs of Reims this flight, accepted a pre takeoff glass immediately on sitting down but paced myself considerably considering FLounge imbibations and the need to drive home from PER.

upload_2018-8-2_21-8-14.jpeg

The offerings du jour.

upload_2018-8-2_21-9-1.jpeg

The bar menu. Good to see at least an entry level single malt (unlike the usual Dom J offering ) but a shame that the Talisker and Laphroaig that I spotted behind the FLounge bar did not make it on board!

upload_2018-8-2_21-12-54.jpeg

The mushroom soup was light and actually very good.

upload_2018-8-2_21-13-44.jpeg

Chicken salad for main. What was needed after FLounge overindulgence, but was very bland. Would not recommend if hungry.

upload_2018-8-2_21-18-11.jpeg

The cheese platter again for dessert as the same matches very well with the Jacquart.

A very good flight again, very impressed with the QF Dreamliner. If the CSM’s opinion that a PER - FRA is likely in the future proves to be correct, will definitely give it a go in J.

That looks like the bucket of weeds my daughter uprooted from her veggie garden a couple of weeks ago. The red roo must be paying the Ponytailed One a truckload of $$$$ to continue to associate his name with this stuff.
