Qantas Business Class meals & menus

SYD-DRW QF846 8:50pm departure

Dinner choice was the roast beef salad or the chicken

Also recommend the economy class chicken Malaysian salad, very tasty.

Flown across the country a few times in economy lately and I tell you what those box meals are far superior to half the food that gets served in J in recent times.

Every time I cop the egg white omelette or some sort of hot decent option in J it's dry and horrible....maybe sweating in the box keeps everything moist in those box meals?

QF146 AKL/SYD A332 23/9 15:15 departure

Great and attentive service, for a 3 hour flight. Shame similar domestic flights of same duration can't be up to this standard.

Offered juice or champagne pre departure
Post departure drink orders taken before departure
Drink appeared within a few minutes after airborne and seatbelt sign off

QF636 MEL/BNE 8:10pm (delayed to 9:15pm) 14/9

Delays across the board last night as ATC had to close the second runway during the day due to wind. They were back up using both by late afternoon.

There was an option of soup (csn’t remember what it was), a cheese board or the pork dumplings. OMG, am I glad I chose the dumplings. Scored 9.5/10, the only downside was not enough of them (think there were 6, I could have eaten 12) and the pastry a little bit thick. But I’m really scratching for detractions, because the meal was superlative. Even the chocolate bar (salted caramel and coconut) was a step up from the usual small single bite ones.

I almost asked for a second helping but we had a full load (11/12) in J

Do yourself a favor when you see this dish. Order it.

Took your advice and had the dumplings. They were truly yummy and when nicely with a Grosset reisling

Any info on the current Supper menu for the redeye flights out of PER?

Here is a menu from a few months ago.

The FA's walked out the tarts and did not offer soup. I suppose you would need to ask for it.

I skipped breakfast in order to sleep, and filled up at the MEL J Lounge on arrival.

I have always (ie, all 3 red-eyes) had to ask for the soup (twice) or single hot dish (think it was pork). Not proactively offered in my experience.

Contrast with MEL-AKL redeye where everything is offered, including pre-departure and pre-supper beverages.

Spot on WP QF. One of the kids had the first dish and I had the third (menu above) - both tasted better than they looked.

Way better offering than the connecting KA flight!

Sadly a QF catering fail and even more unusual ex-OOL where they usually are very good...

This was allegedly "Wagyu Beef Steak in a red wine jus with mash and veg" - the steak was tough.. in fact so tough the lady next to me gave up after about 20 seconds and I was close to giing up to. This was not pleasant.

The "treat" was a fig and ginger cake which was OK. Wine a Riesling but I did not catch who it was from.. not the excellent Grosset 2016 from last month alas.

Looks like you needed a steak knife @RichardMEL ..but of course, that's not going to happen. Disappointing after your OOL experience yesterday as well :(

I did wonder if it was related to the lengthy delays, but I figured the catering (even if ex SYD) would not have been loaded for too long even with the delay so that doesn't explain it to me.

And since the pax next to me also had such trouble with it and gave up (put her bread plate over the top of the dish as if to hide how bad it was ! lol it clearly wasn't one serve that was so tough. Definitely needed a steak knife for sure.

CBR-MEL 11am flight. One option, a toasted turkey and cheese sandwich. Better than the rubbish you get on the late afternoon and evening flights on this sector.

No pic as I did not partake given F lounge then a F flight coming up. But it looked pretty good.
