woohoo the rice like pasta returns!
re water/water. yes it's stupid and the only differentiation seems to be breky flights (say before 9am) get water or juice, then the juice is replaced with sparkling water. Having said that I notice on many flights more pax than not opt for sparkling over still, so there must be a demand for it? (I can't stand the stuff myself). It's quite european though as sparkling is very common there too (in general, not on flights per se)
I did MEL-BNE-MEL over the last weekend and did not eat either way tbh but it seemed like the usual fare though the return flight did have 3 hot options it seemed (laska soup, a chicken and pasta - prob the same rice like pasta as above
and something else I forget). Due to the unfortunate situation of a poor screaming baby ahead of me (the parents tried SO hard to keep the little one settled, but it just did not work out very well
) and some back in row 4 and 5 I opeted for NC headphones and a more stiff drink. The deadheading FA sitting next to me quitely said to me "I so wish I could have one of those too but I have to work!"
A slightly related shout out to the spice bar at MEL J dom lounge... I finally got to try it and theyhad like satay skewers with rice and veg and it was yummy. The vego option looked good too. The regular buffet actually had a few options too including a stir fry noodle, some lamb and roast potatoes which I thought was a really great variation of options. I did not try the lamb, but the potato was pretty good as were the noodles.
