Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yes, but for the $'s I expect more than a slightly warmed up $2 coles sandwich

Flight: QF409 SYD-MEL 0700 departure
Service: Breakfast
Meal: Ham & cheese omelette with Neil's take on parmentier potatoes. Pretty standard QF breakfast, the other option available was toasted muesli. Just the one bakery option - a Portuguese egg tart.

Flight: QF490 MEL-SYD 1930 departure
Service: Dinner
Meal: The two dinner options were beef casserole w/ mash potato or a cheese plate, as pictured below. The casserole and mash was tasty but very sloppy, and the cheese plate was best described as lacklustre. The only bakery option was a cheese & garlic loaf which seems like cost-cutting on a wide body service (previously two options I believe?) but the bread exceeded expectations regardless.

The flight was operated by an A333 which had just come off PER-MEL, I wonder if the cheese plates were left overs from that leg? It was a fairly full cabin, I hope they didn't run out of casseroles because there's no way the cheese was a sufficient dinner.

From my experiences in the pre covid days , I would have expected a bit of a better offering than this on a four and a half flight!
Apart from the limited bar it is about normal for the BNE/MEL/SYD to/from DRW pre-covid. There is usually a snack (cookie/ice cream) 3/4 the way through. It was there on the way up so I assume it will make an appearance in an hour or so.

Just glad it isn’t the salmon I’m sure used to follow me around the fleet...

Thinking of putting in an upgrade request for my 7.30pm MEL-SYD flight next week. Would a proper dinner similar to the above be served?

Yep. If your flight is scheduled to be operated by an A333, keep in mind these have neither IFE or WiFi enabled right now. At least the 737 has WiFi, if I was to fly the route again I would go narrowbody (possibly the only time I will ever say this)

We did a 9am MEL-SYD flight on Sunday, breakfast options were the omlette and toasted muesli mentioned up thread. Served with yoghurt, a banana and a muffin.

I have a J flight booked BNE-MEL next week. Disappointing.

Also, I f-ing HATE that I can't ever get a seat forward of Row 3. The number of times they get to me and they've run out of the choice I want is unforgivable.

Assume that's because Row 1 & 2 are blocked from selection due to status? If you check the seat map on ExpertFlyer does it show the seats are occupied or blocked?

If they are blocked pop a reminder in your diary for 80 hours prior to departure, the forward rows will be available for selection.

IIRC, higher status members seated in rows 2 and 3 were offered meal choices first.
Also remember a number of passengers were advised, the FA will return shortly to take their meal choice. Assume these were subloads maybe?
