Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I wonder how its prepared..
It appeared to be a piece of fillet and looked like maybe par cooked (as it had a little crusting on the top) and then finished off on board - but certainly was not that awful grey microwave look.
Had I remembered I would've taken a photo but it was quite late and I ate it before thinking. I know there has been some discussion of steak in this thread.

Exactly what I had on SQ the other day, standard “Book the Cook” choice ex Sydney. Nice brown crust on the top, and definitely medium rosé in the middle and perfectly yummie.

QF725 - DRW-ADL
SDT:1630 - SFT: 3:35
Check in and security wasn’t bad at all. The QC in Darwin is one of my favourites. The food was pretty good too. Japanese beef with rice, Tom yum soup, some healthy salad and the usual sandwiches etc. Better then any I’ve been to in the other capitals.

We boarded at 1630 following about a 20 min delay in the arrival of the aircraft. The flight was almost completely full. J was 12/12. No pre departure drinks offered. We took off and got the usual pre dinner drinks and pretzels and almonds. Had to giggle as the young man sitting next to me had to convince the CSM he was old enough to drink despite being the same age as me. Oh the joys of dressing middle aged 🤣. Anyways 3 choices for dinner. Lemon pork with potatoes and greens, beef lasagne or chicken quinoa salad. I opted for the pork. It came with the usual sourdough, Lindt chocolate and a fig and ginger cake. The pork was actually really good. It looked more like chicken when it came out but was nice and moist and the light lemon kick was perfect. The cake was also pretty good. Not as sweet as most of the others. Vanilla ice cream was also offered about an hour before landing.

There was a bit of a disagreement between two rows in J. The gentleman in the aisle asked the row in-front if they could raise their seats so that his wife could go to the toilet. It got a bit heated and I thought I was gonna have to call the crew but it soon resolved.

Additionally on arrival at ADL the flight wasn’t displayed anywhere on the luggage carousels. They also had 2 other QF flights from there meaning it was absolutely packed. People standing next to the belt and me having to elbow my way through the mass. Business marked bags did actually come off first so made it to the rideshard pick up point before the rush.

DFW - SYD from 26th July.

Food and drink is really letting QF down. No champagne, so we had the Y+ swill. The flat iron steak was like rubber. The bread looked and tasted like a slice from a Tip Top bag at the supermarket. One of the red wines (which is ok for the price point) was the Penfolds Koonunga Hill '76. That's a $17 wine! Disgraceful for J.

Breakfast time no muesli (wasn't loaded). Also no landing cards (not loaded).

The crew were excellent though. I got 10+ hours sleep. So all in all a good flight for me.

NO CHAMPAGNE? IN BUSINESS, ON THE DFW ROUTE???:oops::oops:

Outrageous. I know why I use Qantas mostly as a point collector and Domestic carrier these days and avoid it like the plague internationally. This is just shocking to me.

That pork dish is one of the best plated/looking QF J meals I've seen in a long time!

Agreed! On recent QR/JL J flights I've had at times two choices of $100pb champagne (including rose) and at least one or two wines of a similar price point. Yes, I know price is not necessarily a driver of quality but it gives you an idea of what an airline is willing to invest in its product! Tried my best to run their supplies dry as well and failed...

I believe it was a loading stuff up. Not a change in policy. To be honest, it probably was for the best for me. After two weeks of swimming through the US, I need to dry out. I'm sure someone smarty pants will think I've hit my head and be concerned for my welfare with such a statement :)

I was on QF8 last month and there was definitely Champers so concur not a change in service.

I was the opposite to you, rarely had a drink in the US due to sticker shock so I had a couple onboard and helped me sleep all the way to SYD 😂
