Whats in the black and purple box?lunch
I wonder how its prepared..steak which was moist and even a little pink in the middle
Sorry, that was a chocolate and raspberry fondant cake. Very nice, rich and gooey.Whats in the black and purple box?
It appeared to be a piece of fillet and looked like maybe par cooked (as it had a little crusting on the top) and then finished off on board - but certainly was not that awful grey microwave look.I wonder how its prepared..
all they can do on board for the finishing is a convection or maybe a microwave ovenfinished off on board
Yes, that's what I meant - not finishing the cooking per se. More just heating up - would think it is a microwave as I don't think they want any extra heat as generated by convection.all they can do on board for the finishing is a convection or maybe a microwave oven

microwaves and steaks just dont go together. Maybe they reheat in convectionmicrowave
Exactly what I had on SQ the other day, standard “Book the Cook” choice ex Sydney. Nice brown crust on the top, and definitely medium rosé in the middle and perfectly yummie. It appeared to be a piece of fillet and looked like maybe par cooked (as it had a little crusting on the top) and then finished off on board - but certainly was not that awful grey microwave look.I know there has been some discussion of steak in this thread.
The most glaring issue with all theseairlineQF food offerings are the carb %
NO CHAMPAGNE? IN BUSINESS, ON THE DFW ROUTE???DFW - SYD from 26th July.
Food and drink is really letting QF down. No champagne, so we had the Y+ swill. The flat iron steak was like rubber. The bread looked and tasted like a slice from a Tip Top bag at the supermarket. One of the red wines (which is ok for the price point) was the Penfolds Koonunga Hill '76. That's a $17 wine! Disgraceful for J.
Breakfast time no muesli (wasn't loaded). Also no landing cards (not loaded).
The crew were excellent though. I got 10+ hours sleep. So all in all a good flight for me.
Lemon pork with potatoes and greens, beef lasagne or chicken quinoa salad. I opted for the pork. It came with the usual sourdough, Lindt chocolate and a fig and ginger cake. The pork was actually really good. It looked more like chicken when it came out but was nice and moist and the light lemon kick was perfect. The cake was also pretty good. Not as sweet as most of the others. Vanilla ice cream was also offered about an hour before landing.
Agreed! On recent QR/JL J flights I've had at times two choices of $100pb champagne (including rose) and at least one or two wines of a similar price point. Yes, I know price is not necessarily a driver of quality but it gives you an idea of what an airline is willing to invest in its product! Tried my best to run their supplies dry as well and failed...NO CHAMPAGNE? IN BUSINESS, ON THE DFW ROUTE???
Outrageous. I know why I use Qantas mostly as a point collector and Domestic carrier these days and avoid it like the plague internationally. This is just shocking to me.

I was on QF8 last month and there was definitely Champers so concur not a change in service.I believe it was a loading stuff up. Not a change in policy. To be honest, it probably was for the best for me. After two weeks of swimming through the US, I need to dry out. I'm sure someone smarty pants will think I've hit my head and be concerned for my welfare with such a statement
