Oops, I wrote Y instead of J.That’s the same pre-departure drink they had on MEL-ADL recently. I was seated in row 4, so I could observe what they got in J. The FA had to go back to get a second tray of the drinks.
Exciting. I'm just waiting for the very rumored individual tourism resumption to be announced, and then it's straight onto the phone to try get some J seats releasedQF25 SYD-HND first departure to Tokyo in 2.5 years!
Upthread another coeliac wrote that he no longer orders GF meals on international flights. I am strongly considering doing the same! So many meals on the inflight menu appear to be GF anyway. And I don’t need bread! I am over the lacklustre QF gluten free J meals that are barely Y quality!QF2 J, 12/9 SIN-SYD, gluten-free (GFML) dinner. Salad leaves, beef stew with overcooked veggies, barely edible breadroll, and lychee/lime jelly. For someone who doesn't usually eat beef this was a bit to take in. But luckily an extra and very tasty dessert saved the day. Shiraz was OK.
I was hoping for better because I couldn't eat either of the SIN J lounge hot food options (laksa, pasta) but overall the food was rather underwhelming. It was only an inch above what I've received at the back of the plane, just presented in a lot nicer way (in fact, some of the pre-pandemic domestic Y hot meals were much tastier and more fulfilling).
No idea of the breakfast as I slept through the service. But if it was along the same lines, no need to kick myself for the loss...

After collecting the tray, a host came around to check if I'd like another dessert. From the normal menu, the mango coconut pannacotta was really enjoyable. Smooth and tasty.

That definitely looks like one of my usual J meals on domestic flights. (Note the cold bread roll, inedible unless warmed up. When I ask for it to be warmed, it is taken away but never returned!)For comparison, now that I compared my meal to Y meals. This was the Y dinner on QF35 (MEL-SIN) a few days earlier. Stock standard, very edible but not memorable and - as often is - the dessert was the best part of it.

I flew QF52 last night and did enjoy the pork. It was surprisingly tender and the 'dill' potatoes nice. I ate it all although I was pretty full from the QR lounge.

Quite a coincidence then. Yes a very attractive and tasty plate, served by a jolly old-school crew (we were centre seats row 4).I flew QF52 last night and did enjoy the pork. It was surprisingly tender and the 'dill' potatoes nice. I ate it all although I was pretty full from the QR lounge.
