Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I just feel sorry for the crew that have to serve the stuff with a straight face... At least in whY they can drop and move on before pax has a chance to open the box 😃
Having flown QF Y from SYD to DRW back in April 2021, I resent those remarks! 😂

My whY "meal" on recent DPS - SYD run... tried to hand it straight back but FA wasnt interested, so had to hold on to it until end of service collection - so it just sat in front of me as a constant reminder of why I should've risked the dodgy tucker in the DPS lounge...

One can order special meal when flying domestic J - is this statement still true?

Got a CBR-MEL J 4:30 pm coming up. I have selected “Strict Indian Vegetarian Meal”. Interested to see what QF will serve …

I’m betting on crackers and cheese, an apple, small bag of dried fruits and a muffin.

Edit : just realise that it’s a snack service around the 4-5pm mark, so my guess is just an apple, coffee or say “sorry didn’t load anything vego, may I offer more snacks or wine instead”

Yes, I believe it's all J flights now back to SPML ordering. MEL-CBR is an ultra short and flights classed as ultra short, only get hot meals, no cold dishes (such as a salad).

QF770 from PER-MEL today. Lunch offerings were pork fillet with mash and beans and a slightly spicy tomato based sauce; a pasta dish; a chicken salad. The pork looked a bit dry but was actually tender and tasted very good. Cake in a box I gave back. Later a dixi cup of mint ice cream. The Heirloom 2018 Chardonnay was very good, too. 1387435F-C847-40D8-BB6E-F49936D67B1E.jpeg

Here's dinner on QF148 from AKL-SYD, an A330 service and my first widebody flight since a scenic flight to Antarctica in November 2020!

PDB served out of Auckland, couldn't say no to a champagne (despite already having a few Moëts in the Emirates Lounge beforehand)

For dinner there was a choice of mushroom penne pasta or Kung Pao chicken with seasonal greens and rice, both served with sourdough, a Lindor ball and a raspberry fondant cake.

I chose the Kung Pao chicken and to drink had sparkling water and the Giesen Small Batch Pinot Noir. My thoughts on the meal were mixed but overall positive, the chicken and greens were very nice but the fried rice, although visually appealing, was a bit bland. The sourdough was quite dry and the slices were tiny! And despite not generally being a fan of mixing fruit and chocolate I actually really enjoyed the raspberry fondant cake.

FAs serving the cabin, Reuben and Sophie were both great. Friendly and efficient, especially considering the cabin was full!

Had a Bundaberg and Ginger Beer after dinner, spirit selection on these flights seems pretty limited at the moment but suppose it's a positive that they are at least serving something.

Would say that overall for both legs of this trans-Tasman trip the food met my expectations and the service exceeded expectations. Glad I wasn't served some of the horrendous sandwiches / piles of mush that others have been posting lately!

I don’t know what Qantas/the Caterer were smoking overnight but today’s QF156 (AKL - MEL) J offering was absurd. It almost felt like someone who works in places like the Reject Shop had a go today and packed whatever he/she could find in the shelves on the tray and a bit more.

Having said that, the dried fruit from non-sellable fruit were delicious and the crackers & salsa did the job.

The omelette was unfortunately non-edible and has been handed back to the cabin crew.

A big shout out to the ISM in J, Mary King, great service, great smile, and very proactive in asking for top-ups etc.

Pre-departure drinks were provided.

They tried to up sell it as a Croque Monsieur, but it was totally disgusting, as shown by the before and after photos I attach.
Thanks for the warning - was on “offer” just then on QF460 (MEL - SYD). I politely declined and got the chargrilled (note: it was certainly not) sliced chicken with beans and coleslaw with Neil’s sauce. It was not bad in all honesty but I do prefer the pre-made Quinoa-Chicken salad that you get in Tasman Y which is actually super tasting and always to look forward to!

The food was good, although having flown SQ I'd probably say this is what QF Business Class ought to be to compete with them. The Tuna starter was very good though.

I also snuck a picture of the business class menu I found laying around;
