Frankly, what I continue to see in these posts is Industrial Slop and sugar-laden cheap cr@p....

Ha- my trans-Tasman in November was booked on a 787 originally, then got subbed to a A330 and then- just a few weeks before- subbed further to a 737. What a downer!I am beyond annoyed when the 787 I booked on (or 330/320 for that matter) is changed to a B737. Definitely NOT what I paid for! Completely different level of comfort and amenitie. Read: lack of comfort and amenitie!
The sugar was overbearing, yes, but besides me everyone seemed to love it.Frankly, what I continue to see in these posts is Industrial Slop and sugar-laden cheap cr@p....

My jaw dropped when I saw the pie and mushy peas on SYD > MEL. I've flown that route in J more times than I'd like to say and never received anything close to as nice as that for a main. I know a lot of folks will say a beef pie has no place in J, but given the "usual suspects" on the SYD>MEL route, it's a welcome change!Haha, “Uncle Alan’s stockings”- love that! The chocolate bars are surely for Christmas only but the ice cream and choice of means on the longer haul seemed to be standard.
Food was generally tasty and the wine selection nice. But this was the case on my trans-Tasman a few weeks back too so I have no complaints about the onboard service. Having to call Qantas is a different story but there’s a different never-ending tread for that.
Safety is more important than the food I say

"We" need to rely on nothing as I certainly won't and rather do anything to avoid this thing but each to their own. Funny how quickly people forget.737MAX I would say all authorities have given them the revised green light, and the big safety tick has been given. We do need to rely on that approval.
It's probably just way more expensive. And you can't even slap a brand on it like for some chocolate bar or ice cream which I bet are all part of some advertising deal which will be much better for Qantas' bottom line.Perhaps the question should be that why on a transcon could they not offer a fruit salad or similar option as a dessert item?
Or a small cheese plateWhile the chocolate bars(or the damn balls) and ice cream are sugar overload (and there's wine too lol) but those are all up to the pax to chose to have or not have of course. Just like the "christmas" IC sandwich in the lounge. I'm a sweet tooth so I enjoy those things to a certain degree (reminder that I have a dentist appointment in a few days lol).

also I've noticed recently QF seems to have put focus into more substantial fare on the short hauls (ie golden triangle mostly plus OOL) into a dinner time service over lunch. That's just based on my experiences though.
Oh yes, please!Or a small cheese plate
Seems like Qantas gave you the same porkie they gave me when flying them up to OOL!QF886 PER to ADL. Pork in some kind of sauce. Overly fatty and not great. Decent size Koko Black chocolate block though. Drink orders proactively taken prior to departure and bottle of water handed out.

Yep- I’ve seen this pork before too.Seems like Qantas gave you the same porkie they gave me when flying them up to OOL!
The way I see it, it's much better for Qantas to give you a porkie in the air, than one on the ground!Yep- I’ve seen this pork before too.
The cheapest off cuts that Neil could find in the pursuit of “the freshest local produce”
