Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Tomorrow PJM and I are on the birds PER-xMEL-HBA.

Leaving PER at 1210h, so no chance to eat pizza in the PER JLounge beforehand.

I tremble as I face the prospect of boarding school food again after almost 60 years since going to boarding school...🤢

J travel is simply nothing at all to look forward to any more...:mad:
At least you have the A330 to MEL which is a massive advantage QF has over the competition

Well, that is true, but the alternative advantage of that is that we could fly whY in row 23 on the side of the bird and just sit two abreast for 3h reading a book and not face a trayful of swill plus a sugar-bomb cr@p sideshow...

Fly Virgin and taste the difference 😊.

And with the money saved ( assuming it’s a $ fare) you and PJM could have a slap up lunch at The Astor Grill in Hobart 😊

It's a points redemption. Have you looked at the cost of coast-coast revenue J fares .

The taste and texture is right (having had some in my dinner tonight) - I might just need to add more liquid / cook longer and it'll swell more.

Ahh I recognise that from the second iteration of the dish! Might pick some of that up too :)
Because I know everyone was waiting with baited breath - I tried again tonight, cooking the barley in the pressure cooker with more liquid. It did indeed puff up more! I prefer it slightly al dente as it turns out but good experiment.
Used as a rice substitute with my chicken korma.

That white label truly depresses me!

but the duck Soba from HND looks pretty nice!
I agree but I think that’s all on offer off late. It was less offensive with that very greasy sandwich. I was hungry 😕

The duck soba is very edible. I can vouch for that.

This actually looks appealing!
Yes yummy and good for a supper on overnight flight.

yes so it's Yarra Burn. I call it Burns - because it does when it goes down the throat :p Personally I think the Grant Burnt (Burge) is better.. but it's all relative.

I am reminded of a flight probably 10 or more years ago, MEL-SYD I was on. thoughtlessly I asked about the "champagne" (I must have been connecting to international or something.. I wouldn't normally make that error). Anyway hilariously the FA happened to be of French extraction with a rather pronounced (lovely) accent. She recoiled - quelle horreur! - and said something close to "Sir, we don't have any *chanpagne* on this flight.. we have the Australian sparkling, Yarra Burn"... and the way she said it with her accent conveyed just the perfect amount of (rightful) disdain while being professional at the same time. It was worth my faux pax in the first place for asking about champagne! :D

What I find more noteworthy is that American Airlines, yes (!!!), has for a long time and still manages to allow you to select your meal choice in J or F. Domestically and internationally. Has worked for a very long time and still works- so no idea why it seems to be such a monstrous issue for other airlines to make it happen

You may be onto something here. I have recently seen some commentary on United's Polaris offering, and it gets pretty good reviews by people I respect. I may need to grab a flight and check it out.

I also need to report on QF11; recently, I had the barramundi and thought it was such a satisfying dish. I have slammed QF recently for some failures, but credit where it is due. Well done, Neil P

Yes AA/UA/DL do pre-ordering to one extent or another. SQ of course has famous BTC and well QF used to for international. Got to wonder why it seems to have gone away - would seem to be the most efficient way to determine catering load and reduce waste if a majority of pax did a meal order. Certainly a way to ensure pax get what they actually might want vs "We're out of X here have the worst option nobody else wanted..."
