Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Pity Neil Perry isn't forced to actually eat his business class offerings.
Or at least he could change his menu priorities from the current "cheap as you can get and containing green leafy stuff " to something palatable and filling !

QF161 SYD-WLG considered a lunch flight even though is supposed to depart 9:40am.

PDB - offered either sparkling wine or sparkling water.

3 options for lunch:
1. Cold - Waldorf salad with chicken
2. Hot - Barramundi with tomato salsa and potatoes
3.Hot - Veal pasta

Went for the Barramundi it was ok. The butter was actually spreadable not frozen and bread warm.

I did really like the ginger and date Pudding and chocolate was koko black not lindt, although lindt balls were offered with tea or coffee.

No Rosé on board, so FA offered to make me a G&T but I passed.

Anyone remember when Qantas had printed menus and a small plate such as a soup or light salad to begin the meal service on trans-Tasman? It would be nice if that ever came back...
I've a few saved. Once upon a time I came across a LAX-OZ business class back in the era when pre-order was available,.

However only one plate could be selected online! (I found out later this was due to it being a designated 'supper' flight.) Poor web design enabled me to select two "Plates" with a bit of thought.

The leftover Christmas Icecream sandwiches are literally doing the rounds of the SYD Dom J lounge:

Followed closely by trays of G&Ts with what I think was raspberry?

Are people not liking the ice cream sandwiches? I like that they’re not going to waste haha.

This forum has been helpful in crafting an OWA and I now have finally something to contribute being on our first flight on it!

PER —> MEL breakfast options:
Granola
Bubble and squeak
Frittata (ran out by the time we took our orders)

Underwhelming offering WLG-MEL.

Cottage Pie below which tasted ok (or ravioli, which looked like penne). Lonely lindt ball, no yummy Koko Black like on the way over.

Four flights.
Thursday 19/01/2023 QF 770 PER-MEL & QF1559 MEL-HBA
Sunday 22/01/2023 QF 0996 HBA-SYD & QF655 SYD-PER
Same menu all flights.
Mains were:
(1) A veal pasta dish variously described as ravioli or tortellini, with a mushroom sauce.
(2) Barramundi (I stopped listening, I don't eat seafood)
(3) Chicken Waldorf salad (not offered on all flights)
No menus even on the flights to and from PER.
The pasta was horrible. Almost inedible. I only picked at it.
The salad was edible but very plain.
Some boxed lemon cake for "dessert".
And chocolates.
Sourdough bread only, no choice of bread.
No cheese plates.
Wine choices limited to one white, one red.
Sparkling poured from a bottle rather than the mini-bottles they used to serve.
Everything on a plastic tray, no linen on the table, and hot meals served in the old economy containers with foil on top only removed at your seat.
No pepper grinder no parmesan cheese no personal service.
SERIOUSLY WHAT HAS HAPPENED?
This was what would once have been served in the economy cabin.

Anyone got the current Aus to North America menu in J? Flying to DFW in a few weeks and not expecting the menu to change....could be the same one from Dec22 that has been posted already.

I’ll be interested to see how different it even is from this May 22 menu (I suspect not very).

I was going to dig one out from about May 2019 but couldn’t find it.

I flew J to DFW back in November. I can see few differences:
- The parpadelle option replaced the lamb sandwich option
- Gingerbread trifle was formerly a creme caramel
- Gnocci replaced Thai fish cakes.
- Sides with the beef fillet are a bit different (Paris mash replaced with chipotle butter).

Other than those, the menu is substantially the same. I had the previous menu thrice in the past year so it is good to see it has changed a little bit.

My next international J flight is the AKL-JFK Points Plane so hopefully there'll be a whole new menu for that.

I'm also on MEL-DFW in a couple of weeks. I'm expecting basically the "summer" menu ie Dec22 more or less.....
