A bit late but here's breakfast on QF601 BNE-MEL on 17 January

2015-01-17 07.22.16.jpg

Poached eggs with Bacon, sausage and mushrooms.

Having a look at the transcon meal a few pages back have Qantas done away with serving nuts from a packet? looks like the nuts are in a small cardboard bowl

Last flights I had in J (January), QF served trail mix from packets, whereas on VA flights in same month, almonds were served in ceramic bowls

On my last few transcon flights in J the nuts were served in the cardboard/bamboo bowls

Indeed QF serves roasted almonds in cardboard bowls. At least we won't hear any more complaints about the number of cashews in the mixed nuts packets ;)

I thought QF only print menus for longer East-West Coast flights.

Consistently inconsistent - Flying East to West on Sunday no printed menu - the return flight two days later had the printed menu. I also "sometimes" get the printed menu on the SYD/MEL - DRW flights

I always found 5, they're just lucky I never found 4 - there would have been all hell to pay, shortchanging me like that..

5...? Really...? I call it a packet of pretzels and cashew. ;) Okay... I admit, perhaps I exaggerate somewhat...

Damn I don't have any left at home to do a live test tonight. I even commented to my seatmate on my last flight when he saw me counting them. Told him the story about the "sAAvings when they cut out 1 olive from their Dom F salads". He laughed and counted his own. He had 4 and I had 4.5

Breakfast CNS-BNE on an op-up recently. The usual suspects... Bacon, eggs.... Glad to have the extra sourdough to help soak up the juices.

I think it tastes a bit better when you get an op-up, doesn't it? ;)

Chicken cous cous chickpea salad on MEL-SYD. Dessert was a lemon meringue eclair.

BNE-MEL. Fish pie with mushy peas on top. Really yum! The dessert was not so pleasant, a chocolate tart but the filling tasted like bland cream, so it went mostly uneaten. Enjoyed a nice Cab Sav as they ran out of sparkling (we have a habit of doing that...).

ADL-MEL Afternoon Tea
Thai beef salad accompanied by Eden Hall 2012 Riesling.
Dessert was chocolate and pear tart.

The meal was ok, good light refreshment.
It was nice to have a choice of Riesling for a change and it matched well with the salad.
