Qantas Business Class meals & menus

We were on QF521 to Sydney on Friday before a fire at Kingsford Smith sent us off to Canberra. We were already late when we took off and the CSM decided to open the bar at 11:30 as he was serving the 'snack'. It stayed open for quite a while.

Options were what he described as a small fruit salad, a small salad or the hot option, this quite awkward to eat meatball panini. bAlt managed his without cutlery.

I pulled mine apart and used my knife and fork

Isn't the bar open all day in business?

You mean for longer / international services? Because most domestic J is already a single tray.
Change is for International flights.
The tray returns yes, but it’s still multi course for lunch and dinner. There is no reduction.
Yep, multi course being served at the same time. May be good for evening flights where supper is provided. Unsure the change for day time flights will appeal to me. I like the current service. Interested to see what difference the change brings.

Again, there is no changes. Still 3 courses all served separately. Just the first two are on a tray. Tray is removed and dessert served straight away (no more trolley).

We pushed back at exactly 6 and after some quite bad turbulence during climb settled in with some very strong tail winds. For the first time in recent memory on a QF DOM J flight at least, meals were done by status. This did mean the cart went up and down the aisle several times and didn’t seem very efficient. That being said even in row 3 I got served 3rd with a full J cabin. Three options, fried eggs with bacon, mushrooms and braised beans, Neil’s healthy muesli or smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. I opted for the later. The cream cheese comes premixed with capers and onion and despite being a bit fiddly to put together in the air was actually really tasty. The bagel was warm and chewy. Just wish there was more salmon. I ate the spinach separately.

And for the first time since I was probably 10 I had jam on bread too

Unfortunately all the time we saved in flight we paid for with about 20-25 mins of holding but we still disembarked right on time.

Actual bagel - as in doughy, chewy, flavoursome baked good - or glorified bread roll with a hole in it?

Late post. QF36 5 Nov 2024.

Service was a little bit delayed but not that it’s longer as it’s not per course as served on a tray in one go. Am happy with that as it’s a night flight. CSM Fabian (spelling needs correction -sorry as she from Switzerland) was very friendly and proactive in making sure everyone’s needs catered to. Crew kept the top ups etc. going even after lights out for those did not sleep. There was no card to fill up for breakfast. Instead at about 1.5 hours landing crew came around with trolley with the breakfast options for those that wanted breakfast.

I actually enjoyed the beef short rib rendang was authentic! They missed the wine I asked for in the course but I ended up not wanting it. Had the whisky instead with the cheese course instead. And had to stop as they were very happy to keep that topped up ….

The brioch bacon was not burnt but I really think reheating a brioch makes it not enjoyable as it just gets crusty n dry. A personal preference I guess.

Maybe

I should leave it 😜. It’s a good superpower to have.

But in the interest of accuracy. Have edited it. Some is reading it at least. Thanks 😍
You corrected it to next year instead of the one after...
(Also, if you were looking for the feminine form of the name, it would very possibly be Fabienne)
