Qantas Business Class meals & menus

The cheese box can vary in quality but I usually quite enjoy it simply because it takes quite a while to eat and is a good time filler.

Don't know why QF can't provide a proper meal option all times of the day in J. It's not like J fares are cheaper outside of meal times.

Back to QF though, I'd love to see starters / entrées more consistently on J flights. Perhaps there are certain routes/times where they are featured, but feels random to me - and more often than not it is only a good CSM who might offer the soup as a starter.

Given that dessert cannot be served on trans-continental flights due (supposedly) to health and safety issues... don't you're think your being a teeny weeny bit selfish by suggesting catering management endanger the safety of the crew and therefore the ENTIRE PLANE by such a proposal? :p

It's absolutely critical any CSMs stop offering soup as a starter! Not only is it a safety risk, but they probably also have to call and distract the captain to seek approval (for those of you not up to speed, check out the thread on 'Ready for Take-off')

I'm expecting a call from the WorkSafe authorities any minute. :)

MEL-BNE Supper

Choices were:
Zucchini soup
Cheese box
Cold cuts plate

I went for the zucchini soup topped with mozzarella cheese which was delicious, as most QF soups are. The orange cake dessert was a bit dry but not too bad.

The white on offer was Nepenthe Chardonnay 2013 from Adelaide Hills. Very nice wine, good choice by the Rockpool team.

The red was Soumah Pinot Noir 2014 from Yarra Valley. It's very unusual to find Pinot in Dom J, especially as the only choice of red. I thought it was good choice considering the meals offered but I'm not sure everyone will agree with me on that one.

I still remember fondly getting St Henri in J ADL-SYD about 12 years ago. Those were the days.

One Thursday night flying out of CBR to MEL on QF 833 in 2011 the CSM advised me that they were serving St Henri as the red that flight in J!!

Apparently they were clearing out some stock and there was not enough to load for QF international so we got to have it :D

Unfortunately, (being mostly Pollies sitting in J) there was then a rush for the St Henri - all of which was completely consumed within 1/2 an hour on this very short and memorable flight.

I still did pretty well - 2 glasses and the remains of the last bottle but it has never happened since :(

Seems like you have to go transcontinental to get real butter.

simple solution to your 'problem'...fly another airline that caters to your 'needs'...or start an airline of your own that can supply 'real butter' on HUNDREDS OF DOMESTIC FLIGHTS EVERY DAY ... honestly the flippant comments on AFF are getting very tiresome...and if you posted the same concern with VA or any other airline..my response would be the same...if real butter is SO important to you on EVERY flight..BYO!!

A return fare MEL-SYD tomorrow is currently up to $1900. If someone paying that wants 'real' butter, why not?

Plate? What happened to the box?

Apparently you have to go to Adelaide to get a plate! We got the box SYD-MEL. Made it quite awkward to eat.
