Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF1953 - DRW-ADL
SDT: 1815 - FT: 03:45

We left on time and had made up quite a lot of time in the air but where delayed into ADL waiting for a medical emergency on another aircraft. Still landed on time. No PDB but the pre dinner drink was offered quickly after take off.

3 options - Ginger and sesame chicken with hokkien noodles, mushroom pasta or dukkah crusted pumpkin salad. J was 5/9. I was in 2A and the couple in row 1 were served first. They both chose the chicken and when the CSM got to me she skipped over that option and just offered the two vego dishes. My heart sank a little before she added we also have the chicken but it just needs to heat up so it will be about 20 minutes. I was happy to wait. As were the other two in row 3 so we all had the chicken. It came with a Japanese salad with a prawn, bread, butter, a very swa cheese and crackers. Ice cream came about an hour before landing.

The CSM was lovely if a little robotic at times. we had a few chats and turns out she was the crew manager for alliance in ADL which I suppose explains why the service felt so by the book.

Is that cheese rolled in glad-wrap?

That's what I just wondered... I mean, I hoped for a long time that Qantas would offer some cheese instead of the usual sweets with sweets and how about some chocolate with that. But that they'd do it THAT cheaply...

QF773 MEL-PER today, the Korean beef noodle looked amazing, but I had the Madsaman beef curry - fantastic slow cooked oyster blade steak topped with creamy curry sauce, cashew and potato. Was a great choice20230808_141500.jpg

Personally, I'm not a seafood eater, and wish there were different salad and sides to choose from, maybe paired to mains, as the last two flights have been seafood

Doing CBR-MEL Wednesday next week 0600 departure. Any idea what to expect for brekkie? As I'm a vego (can't even have eggs) contemplating if I need to pre-order? Although it's only a 40 minute flight ...
Update to this.

I went ahead and pre-ordered “Strict Indian Vegetarian” meal. But the system said “meal selection not available on QF <flight number>”

So I was like, all good. Will have something at the lounge before departure.

Come meal time, I was asked what I liked to have and I asked if they had anything vego and the CSM went, yes, so that special meal is for you. Let me heat it up. I was pleasantly surprised :)

Enter - Rajma dhal and mixed veg with cauliflower curry and rice  #CurryForBrekkie

It was really good and quite a size portion. Really enjoyed this meal :) Don’t take my word for it. In the next pic, you might get a peek at the bottom right corner - there were no leftovers 😂

I was also served a fruit, dessert and coffee. I had to swap the still water for sparking.

After my meals, I was bored - so I did a bit of folding, with the napkin. The CSM loved what I had done and even showed it to the FA from Y :)

Just wondering if anyone in this forum have tried QF business Diabetic/Low Fat/Low Salt or other special dietary meals (non-vegetarian) on their trans-tasman flights?

The reason I am asking is because I am thinking of selecting a special meal (non-vegetarian) as a way avoid the same old boring veal ravioli that I have been getting on my ex-SYD trans-tasman flights in business since April.

To tell you how bad the situation is, I have had four ex-SYD business class trans-tasman flights since April and veal ravioli was the only hot option available every single time. o_O

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Surely one of Neil Perry’s plant based or vegetarian concoctions should have been offered!

Surprisingly no. 🤣 The three choices on offer have always been (1) the veal ravioli, (2) a cold salad with a few flimsy chicken pieces disguised as 'Chicken Waldorf Salad', and (3) the famous Qantas business class corn soup on my ex-SYD trans-tasman flights.

I went for the "Chicken Waldorf Salad" on a recent flight however - according to the CSM (Basil F) - they were all out of Waldorfs!!
