Same menu today on the newly timed QF209 , food was actually really good, best I've had in a long time. Soup and Snapper were tried and devoured - didn't make dessert as the F lounge got a workout pre flight.

Crew were the best I've had in a couple of years too, first time I've walked off a QF flight and said I was impressed in a long long time. Nothing a problem, drinks kept topped up and just generally nice people.

They're also less likely to feel ripped off by a lacking meal service as it's (usually) not their money.

Imagine the once-every-few-years leisure flyer saving up for a four-figure business class flight only to get stuck on a 20 year old 737 with a bacon & egg roll for lunch. It's laughable for the prices being charged relative to economy.
Not to mention that exact same bacon and egg roll was a recent staple in a cardboard box in Y. QF is really taking the ssip by whacking that dry fast food travesty on a plate, sprinkling some rocket leaves on it and calling it a J meal on a three hour sector

I don't it is as bad as the dried out signature chicken schnitzel sandwich that masquerades as a main option.

QF64 JNB-SYD departed 16/04/24
PDP Champagne or sparkling water- didn’t ask which champagne but what I was served had been poured a long time and was warm and flat

I had the beetroot and fetta starter but it was served with olive n almond tapenade instead of the advertised pistachio and lemon dressing and it really wasn’t a good combination. I guess my pistachio and lemon dressing ended up on the plant based dining starter…..

I had the roast pork main, everything on the plate was really good - except for the pork naturally that was dry and hard like balsa wood. I can’t believe how good the asparagus was.

breakfast was ok with the exception of the corn fritter things - I didn’t get a photo of the breakfast card as it was whisked away very quickly

Please would those posting include the flight origin/destination in their posts? I might know where QF10 goes, but others might not. I have no idea about the above destination. It might have little to do with the meal on board, but it could also mean that dnata at that airport does a much better job.

Edit: I now realise that QF209 is the altered QF9 via Singapore.

Manage to score CR’s for QF29 MEL-HKG in September. What meals can I expect and any recent menus?
Might fill up at the Parkroyal for Brekky and then the QF F lounge.

Highly recommend both pre-flight options.

It's the old QF9 MEL-PER, shifted forward approx 4 hrs to depart MEL at 1045 rather than 1450 allow an extra stop in SIN on the international leg because of the high risk ME airspace situation

Same metal, same seat allocations... (I'm on it next week, and that lesiurely drive down from Wangaratta and lunch in the Flounge has now become an early start, a little tight)

CNS-BNE 9:10 flight. Two substantial options on this 2 hour flight (contrast to the 3 hour flight up with similar departure time). Mushroom frittata with pork sausages, mushrooms and tomato. Or scrambled eggs with bacon and spinach.

IMG_5294.jpgI've had this a few times now and still really enjoy it.

Great flight. My shadow held, and CSM Nathan was outstanding. Great welcome onboard (to all pax), chatty but very polished and with good energy. Constant service. Only sat down for a few minutes (during which he wrote out a lovely P1 note to mark the flight).

Had to take a late golden triangle flight this eve (post 7.59pm) and just wanted to highlight that it is not a dinner service as people seem to be very sensitive to timings.
Cheese plate was perfect at the time…do prefer the Bethany Shiraz or Grenache to Heirloom but still quite drinkable.

I was on QF555 from BNE to SYD departing 7:45pm and was offered the supper options as well, choosing the same one you did here. Is there some flexibility in the dinner / supper divide or is it meant to be 8pm and I was done over by QANTAS catering?

One thing I don't understand - why do people who visit this thread regularly still seem to order the steak?

It's very hard to get right even with the best execution (though have had good ones on SQ J and EK F before) but Qantas seem to do them particularly bad.
Personally I’ll often order steak regardless of airline as I don’t eat any seafood which rules out many options and I don’t eat vegetarian dishes so it’s often steak or a chicken dish.
As someone who enjoys their steak “medium plus” or well done I’m fine if it’s overcooked 🤣

We are in the same boat there! I also don’t eat seafood and am not exactly a fan of veggies with nothing else, so often it’s steak or chicken (unless I’m lucky and there’s a pork dish on the menu).

But I must say- many airlines manage to do steak better than Qantas does. SQ comes to mind (they unfortunately are “experts” in spoiling even some of their meat dishes with a healthy dose of seafood on top but at least their steaks are usually ace) but I’ve also had decent steak on other airlines in the past.

Best ever was in Thai First class a few years back where the dryness of the steak was reversed with a generous slice of delicious Fois Gras on top- definitely the best meal I’ve ever had on an airplane :p

QF533 BNE - SYD 21APR24
Sunday early afternoon departure. Options of Mediterranean Pizza, Cauliflower Soup or a Ploughman's Plate.
After having a few hot dishes in the lounge, I decided to go with Ploughman's plate and found it to be excellent. Would choose it again.

“Mediterranean Pizza”? Now, that’s something I haven’t come across yet. Is it really pizza pizza or more like a soggy pie filled with tomato sauce and veggies?

Does anyone happen to have a picture of this? I’m genuinely curious…
