Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF78 SIN-MEL, 12:25am departure, so supper.
Obviously this was an outlier but on these sorts of flights I'd like to see a breakfast bag type thing with a muffin, bottled juice and a piece of fruit. Other airlines do it meaning the service can be basically at top of descent instead of an "express" 1 hr prior.

QF157 MEL-AKL

Delayed by an hour (often seems to be the case for this flight.

Bubbles before take off. 4 choices for dinner. I opted for the chicken curry which was pretty tasty. Other options were lamb shank, mezze plate and vegie pasta.

PER-SYD red eye flight (a few weeks back). Same beef, mushroom and potato pastie (as I've posted before) or a soup option I think (honestly can't remember).

Was filling and OK, but mostly potato this time which was disappointing. As was the lack of any breakfast offering.

On the plus side, the J Lounge pizza Chef (excellent and very kind) and oven were going strong to midnight.

QF158 AKL-MEL 3/10

Late dinner given the 9pm departure as a consequence of daylight saving.

Three choices pork fillet with vegetables (selected), mushroom linguine, or seaweed salad. Crew also happy to offer cheese, nuts and drinks for those not hungry.

Pork was ok. Salmon salad was nice. Ice cream (kapiti raspberry and white chocolate) has returned which is a positive improvement. Very attentive crew. Good with the wine top ups and offer of other drinks.

The AKL lounge was nice and quiet. Food was better than the normal offerings in Mel or Syd international business lounges.

QF437 SYD-MEL 11am.

Choice of
Savoury French toast with leek and ham or
Croissant with maple bacon and cheese or
Fruit salad

Plus an apple Danish and Carmen's muesli bar.

All very carbohydrate heavy.

Croissant below, Neil's leaves have hit a new low, dry and no dressing whatsoever.

I ate the bacon out of the squished croissant as there is never any bacon in the SYDd J lounge and then just ate the Danish which was yum.

I got bacon first thing Tuesday morning - a dramatic improvement on the rubbery extrusions that passed for sausages on Saturday morning...

I've seen better looking croissants at 3am at a servo! Well not really as I'm asleep by then :(

And yes, looks like bacon was "enhanced" from the dom J lounge breakfasts about 18 months ago :(

I've never seen bacon in SYDd J or QPub just figured the cook must be Jewish or Muslim as it's always chicken sausages when I'm there for breaky.

Over at SYDi J and First there is always bacon and usually in MELd J and BNEd J too.

Anyway I'll be eating my way around Melbourne this weekend so was best not to fill up on the plane anyway.
